India’s wholesale prices increased 1.31 per cent YoY in August 2024, easing from a 2.04 per cent gain in July, below market expectations of a 1.80 per cent rise. 

The August reading marked the tenth consecutive period of wholesale inflation rising, but the at the softest pace since April.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Zydus Lifesciences today informed that it has, through its wholly owned subsidiary, acquired a 50 per cent stake in Sterling Biotech. 

The company, in an exchange filing, said SBL's active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) business is an excellent strategic fit for Zydus, given that it has fermentation-based products portfolio with a manufacturing facility at Masar (near Vadodara, Gujarat, which is in proximity to the company’s existing facility at Dabhasa), and can meet its strategic and commercial objectives.
 

The company added that while acquiring the 50 per cent stake from the shareholders of SBL, Zydus had negotiated for the right to acquire the Target Business of SBL at a pre-defined value. This right has been exercised by the company, it said.
