Stock Market LIVE Updates: Oil prices fell in Asian trading on Thursday after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a larger-than-expected 50bps, sparking concerns about the US economy.

Brent crude futures for November dropped 36 cents, or 0.49 per cent, to $73.29 per barrel by 8:05 AM, while WTI crude futures for October declined to $70.49 a barrel, down 42 cents or 0.59%.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Markets in the Asia-Pacific region were mixed in choppy trading on Thursday, as investors digested the US Fed’s 50bps rate cut announcement.
 

Japan’s Nikkei 225 and broad-based Topix were up more than 2 per cent each, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index was up 0.52 per cent. 

Meanwhile, mainland China’s CSI 300 was up by 1.30 per cent, and South Korea’s Kospi dropped 0.58 per cent after opening higher. The small-cap Kosdaq was down 0.4 per cent. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 had climbed 0.17 per cent.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: US markets closed lower; Wall Street futures up

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Overnight in the US, the benchmark S&P 500 climbed nearly 1 per cent after the US Fed's announcement before pulling back to close down 0.29 per cent at 5,618.26. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.25 per cent, at 41,503.10, and the Nasdaq Composite shed 0.31 per cent, to end at 17,573.30.

Meanwhile, US stock futures were up on Wednesday as traders digested the Federal Reserve’s earlier decision to lower interest rates by a half percentage point.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures  had climbed 0.4 per cent, while Futures of S&P 500 were up 0.6 per cent, and Nasdaq 100 futures were ahead by 0.9 per cent.
