Karnataka job quota row After the Karnataka cabinet approved a bill mandating private companies to reserve 70% of non-management jobs and 50% of management-level jobs in private sector for Kannadigas, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said today that his party demands both the central and state governments to provide quotas for OBC candidates in private jobs. 10% Horizontal quota for Agniveers Meanwhile, the Haryana government announced a 10% horizontal quota for Agniveers in specific jobs like direct recruitment of constables, mining guards, forest guards, jail wardens, and Special Police Officers (SPOs), along with a three-year age waiver for Group B and C employment, and a five-year waiver for the first batch of Agniveers in Haryana. IMF upgrades India’s 2024 economic forecast The International Monetary Fund projects 7% economic growth for India in 2024, up from the previously projected 6.8%. However, it added that growth will continue to decline and reach 6.5% in 2025.
