Hyderabad, Apr 06 (ANI): It's festival time for the countrymen as they are captivated in the celebration of the New Year's Day, as per the Hindu calendar. Maharashtrians are celebrating Gudi Padwa, Ugadi also spelt as Yugadi is the New Year's Day for the people of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Kannada or Telugu New Year's Day is observed in these regions on the first day of the Hindu solar calendar month of Chaitra. The festival is celebrated with zeal and fervour in all the three states and is the perfect occasion to get together with family and friends. On this auspicious day, people white wash their houses and decorate their garden areas with colourful Rangoli.
