To make India's G20 presidency a success, leaders must narrow their focus

Many of the world’s most important financial decision-makers are meeting in Ahmedabad this week. The summer G20 finance ministers’ meeting, presided over in this iteration by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is usually one of the most important dates in the policy-making calendar. By the middle of the year, the priorities of a particular G20 presidency have become clear; and there remains enough time to thrash out some sort of agreement prior to the rush of summits — from the climate COP to the G20 leaders’ meeting — with which the year normally ends.
