The Indian women's hockey team clinched their 2nd consecutive title as they defeated China 1-0 in the final at the Rajgir hockey stadium in Bihar on November 20. They become the 2nd team to get back-to-back titles in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy history.
Deepika's strike in the 3rd quarter into the bottom right corner did the job for the Women in Blue on the night as the home crowd rejoiced in what was is a successfull title defense at home.
While China did try their best to take the game to the hosts, an end-to-end game in the 1st half saw both sides going back into the dressing room with the score at 0-0. However, it was the defending champions that came out in the 2nd half with a more aggressive spproach and got the breakthrough in the 3rds quarter. It would have been 2-0 when India got the penalty stroke. But Deepika failed to put it into the back of the net as the goalkeeper saved the strike going into the left corner.
In the end, it was the Women in Blue who got through the finish line and secured another title for themselves on the night.
