The defending champions India continued their winning streak at the 2024 Women's Asian Champions Trophy by defeating China with a comfortable 3-0 margin on Saturday. With 12 points, India have moved to the top of the points table, replacing their opponents from the night, China. This was also the third time in four games that the Indian side walked away with a clean sheet.
India started the match aggressively but failed to convert their chances, leaving the scoreline at 0-0 by the end of the first half. However, India picked up the pace in the second half as goals from skipper Salima Tete and Deepika put them ahead 2-0 by the end of the third quarter. The hosts added one more goal through Sangita Kumari in the final moments of the fourth quarter, ending the game with the scoreline reading 3-0 in their favour.
India and China remain the only two teams to have qualified for the semifinals by the end of game day four, while the remaining two spots will still be up for grabs on Sunday. India will now face Japan in their final group stage game.
