Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Bengal Warriors to become the fifth team to qualify for playoffs in PKL 2024

Matchday 62 of the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 saw two more interresting matches on Friday, December 20. In the first match of the night Jaipur Pink Panthers completed a comeback win over Bengal Warriors to secure thier place in the playoffs. They are now the fifth team to book thier playoff spot in PKL 2024, while in the second match Telugu Titans secured a comfortable win over Puneri Paltan to stay alive in the competition.

PKL 2024 first match on December 20: Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Bengal Warriors

The Jaipur Pink Panthers staged an incredible comeback to defeat the Bengal Warriorz 31-28 and secure their place in the PKL Playoffs. The victory, which made Jaipur the fifth team to qualify, also eliminated Puneri Paltan from playoff contention. Arjun Deshwal led Jaipur with 9 points, supported by Abhijeet Malik’s 7 points and Reza Mirbagheri’s High-5 performance.

The Bengal Warriorz started strong, quickly taking the lead, with Arjun Rathi excelling in attack and their defense holding firm. Jaipur, cautious but determined, stayed within striking distance. By the ninth minute, Bengal had stretched their lead to six points, but Abhijeet Malik’s raids narrowed the gap to two. Bengal’s defense remained resilient, inflicting an all out on Jaipur and establishing a 19-9 lead by halftime.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Jaipur team. Super Tackles from their defenders and Arjun Deshwal’s raids began chipping away at Bengal’s lead. By the 26th minute, the deficit was down to six points, and momentum had shifted. With 8 minutes left, Jaipur inflicted an all out on Bengal, taking a slim lead.

In a tense final phase, both teams traded blows, with Bengal briefly leveling the score at 27-all through Pranay Rane’s two-point raid. However, Jaipur’s defenders held their nerve, securing a crucial three-point advantage in the final minutes to clinch a hard-fought victory. This win cements Jaipur’s playoff spot and delivers a blow to Bengal’s campaign.

PKL 2024 second match on December 20: Puneri Paltan vs Telugu Titans

In the second night match, the Telugu Titans defeated Puneri Paltan in a close contest by 12 points, earning five more points to stay alive in the PKL 2024 playoff race. The Titans now have 66 points, equal to sixth-placed U Mumba. However, U Mumba still has two games remaining, and even a loss by less than six points would secure them the final playoff spot.

During the match, both teams were evenly matched at 9-9 after the first 10 minutes. The Titans then made a strong comeback, surging ahead to lead 25-16 by the end of the first half. In the second half, Puneri Paltan mounted a fightback, but the Titans maintained their lead at 32-27. In the final quarter, the Telugu Titans shifted into high gear once again, eventually winning the match by 48-36.
