Matchday 44 of the Pro Kabaddi League 2024 saw Tamil Thalaivas taking on Dabang Delhi in the first match today on the final day of action at the Noida Indoor Stadium, while the second clash of the day saw Bengal Warriors face off against Patna Pirates. Dabang Delhi in a close contest beat Tamil Thalaivas to start the night with a six position jump in the points table to number two spot. However, the three time champions Patna Pirates made thier success short-liver as they beat Bengal warriors in the last match of leg two of PKl 2024 to secure the second spot of the table for themselves and push Delhi to number three.
PKL 2024 First Match on December 1: Tamil Thalaivas vs Dabang Delhi
The match between Dabang Delhi K.C. and Tamil Thalaivas began with both teams taking their time to find their rhythm, resulting in a closely contested start. Tamil Thalaivas opened the scoring with Ranjith Chandran’s swift tackle on Ashu Malik, followed by Yogesh’s excellent block against Moein Shafaghi. Naveen Kumar then displayed his signature skills, keeping the Thalaivas on the defensive.
While Tamil Thalaivas managed to contain Ashu Malik, they struggled to handle the unstoppable Naveen Kumar. As Dabang Delhi K.C. seemed poised to extend their lead, Moein Shafaghi responded with an impressive 4 raid points and 2 tackle points, helping keep the Thalaivas in the match. However, Gaurav’s Super Tackle on Moein evened the score, and the teams went into halftime tied at 12-12.
The second half saw both teams continue to trade blows, with each raid and tackle crucial. Every point by Amir Hossein Bastami was answered by Naveen Kumar’s clutch Do-or-Die raids. As the game reached its final stages, Naveen Kumar stepped up with a Super Raid, collecting four points and taking down Moein Shafaghi, Aashish, Amir Hossein Bastami, and Abhishek Manokaran. This also marked his Super 10, putting Tamil Thalaivas on the back foot.
A well-executed tackle by Rahul on Ranjith Chandran resulted in an all-out on Tamil Thalaivas, giving Dabang Delhi K.C. a solid lead. Ashu Malik added two more points in the final two minutes. Despite Moein Shafaghi’s efforts, the Thalaivas couldn’t recover, and Dabang Delhi sealed a dominant 11-point victory.
PKL 2024 Second Match on December 1: Bengal Warriors vs Patna Pirates
In the second match of the night, Devank (13 raid points) and Ayan (8 raid points) kept Patna Pirates' momentum going as they beat Bengal Warriors by 10 points to replace Dabang Delhi, the winner of the first match of the day, in the second spot on the points table. Patna Pirates dominated the entire game, scoring 11, 8, 14, and 5 points in the four quarters, compared to Bengal Warriors' 9, 6, 10, and 10 points. The game ended with the scoreboard reading 38-35 in Patna Pirates' favor. Bengal Warriors will finish the second leg of PKL 2024 in 11th place, with only Bengaluru Bulls below them.
