Samsung has announced the global launch of its Odyssey OLED G9, the latest in its series of Odyssey gaming monitors. The Odyssey OLED G9 is the first OLED monitor to offer Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution with a 32:9 ratio, said the South Korean electronics manufacturer.
“Last year, Samsung addressed the demands and expectations of even the most experienced gamers with the launch of the Odyssey OLED G8,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With the introduction of the Odyssey OLED G9, equipped with unrivaled picture quality, we are excited to offer our customers these powerful gaming monitors and raise the bar for OLED gaming.”
The Odyssey OLED G9 will go on sale worldwide from June 12. The launch schedule will vary by region, the company said. Samsung will organise a Fortnite gaming tournament with 100 gamers on its Twitch channel to celebrate the launch of its new model. No details on the India launch date and pricing have been announced yet.
The Odyssey OLED G9 is offered in two variants – G95SC and G93SC. Both the monitors are similar in design and features, and boast the OLED display, but the former comes with the Gaming Hub and smart TV offerings. Samsung said the G93SC model would be available globally in the third quarter of this year.
Coming on to the specifications and features, the Odyssey OLED G9 monitors sport 49-inch displays with 1800R curvature. The Odyssey OLED G9 offers 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time and 240Hz refresh rate. Powered by a Neo Quantum Processor Pro, the gaming monitor uses deep learning to automatically adjust brightness and contrast based on on-display content requirements.
The monitors feature AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and DisplayHDR True Black 400. Packaged in a metal frame, the Odyssey OLED G9 is fitted with CoreSync and Core Lighting+.
