Apple is set to launch its iPhone 15 series later this year. According to a Livemint report, in which an Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared his thoughts, the US-based mobile phone company will aggressively upgrade its hardware specification to develop an ecosystem of Vision Pro.
Kuo added that Apple is planning to introduce an improved Ultra Wideband chip (UWB) with iPhone 15. The upgraded chipset will enhance the iPhone's performance and reduce the power consumption for nearby interactions. He also mentioned that the production process could be moved from 16nm to a more advanced 7nm.
Livemint reports that Apple has been using the same U1 UWB chip since the iPhone 11. Apple is using the chip in Apple Watch Series 6 and above generation along with the Apple HomePod mini, the second-gen HomePod, the new AirPods Pro's case, and AirTags.
The U1 offers significant features, which include Find My features, Handoff, Precision Finding, and AirDrop.
Kuo further added that Apple may bring Wi-Fi 7 with iPhone 16, which will be more conducive to Apple's integration of hardware products on the same local networks providing an ecosystem experience.
Furthermore, it is expected that iPhone 15 and plus variants will receive three upgrades compared to its predecessors. There are rumours that iPhone 15 series model will incorporate a new Dynamic Island feature, potentially featuring a punch-hole display design. However, official confirmation is yet to come, reported Livemint.

The punch-hole design is limited to Apple iPhone 14 Pro models, but there is a speculation that this might change with the launch of the iPhone 15 series, the Livemint report added.
One more expected upgrade in iPhone 15 and Plus is a 48MP camera. This is another significant update compared to the 12MP sensors found on current iPhone models. Apple's lightning port can also be replaced with a USB Type-C port.
