Delhi HC to hear plea by BJP MLAs seeking CAG reports in Assembly

The Delhi High Court will hear on December 9 a plea by the city's opposition leaders seeking a direction to place Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports related to liquor duty, pollution and finance before the Assembly. Justice Sanjeev Narula on Monday deferred hearing on the petition while noting that the pleadings in the case were not yet complete. While the counsel appearing for the petitioners stressed that the matter was urgent as the current Assembly session would lapse on December 4, the lawyer for the Delhi government said this was "not the last session". Senior advocate Sudhir Nandrajog, appearing for the Delhi government, said a reply to the petition was being prepared as the matter was earlier scheduled to come up on December 9. Even if the current session ended, the lieutenant governor has the power to re-convene it, he said. "This is not the last session and is not even the last assembly in Delhi. Raised issues hoping for Centre to act but I was attacked instead: Kejriwal

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday targeted the BJP-led central government for alleged inaction on law and order issues here, claiming that instead of taking action against criminals, an attack was orchestrated on him during his November 30 padyatra in Malviya Nagar. The BJP has yet to respond to the allegations. Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal said, "The liquid thrown on me was harmless, but it could have been dangerous. This is the third attack on me in the last 35 days." The former chief minister also accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of sending the message that complainants, rather than offenders, will face arrest. Kejriwal also criticised the arrest of AAP MLA Naresh Balyan, who had earlier filed a complaint about extortion by gangsters. "Instead of arresting criminals, they are targeting our MLAs," the AAP chief alleged, demanding action against the real offenders to ensure the safety of Delhi's residents. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday expressed shock over the Delhi government reportedly not accepting financial aid through a Centre-funded health scheme. CJ Manmohan went ahead to remark, "Today you are refusing Rs 5 lakh for the citizens. I am shocked." Seven BJP MPs have moved the High Court to direct the AAP government to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The lawmakers, in their PIL, said Delhi was the only union territory where the beneficial healthcare scheme for the underprivileged was yet to be implemented, therefore, depriving them of the essential health .
