Reliance Jio tops with AGR at Rs 25,331 cr, Airtel sees steepest growth

Reliance Jio posted the highest adjusted gross revenue, on the basis of which the government calculates spectrum and licence fee, at Rs 25,330.97 crore while Bharti Airtel saw its AGR grew at sharpest pace in March 2024 quarter, a report by sector regulator Trai said on Thursday. Reliance Jio's adjusted gross revenue (AGR) grew by 10.21 per cent during the latest January-March quarter from Rs 22,985 crore in the same period a year ago. Airtel's AGR grew by 13.25 per cent to Rs 20,951.91 crore in the March 2024 quarter from Rs 15,500.36 crore a year ago. Loss making Vodafone Idea posted a marginal 2.22 per cent year-on-year increase in AGR at Rs 7,370.75 crore from Rs 7,210.63 crore. State-owned BSNL and MTNL posted declines of 4.41 per cent and 13.78 per cent in AGR to Rs 1991.61 and Rs 156.61 crore, respectively. Airtel prepays dues of Rs 7,904 cr for spectrum acquisition in 2012, 2015

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Friday said it has prepaid the entire dues of Rs 7,904 crore for the spectrum it acquired in 2012 and 2015 to the Department of Telecom. Airtel acquired spectrum worth Rs 8.67 crore in 2012 and Rs 29,129 crore in 2015 auction. "Bharti Airtel...said that it has prepaid Rs 7,904 crore to the Department of Telecom. With this, the Company has fully prepaid all deferred liabilities pertaining to spectrum acquired in the auction of the year 2012 and 2015, which were at the highest interest cost of 9.75 and 10 per cent, respectively," the company said in a statement. The consolidated net debt for the company, including the impact of leases, declined to Rs 2,04,646 crore as of March 31, 2024, from Rs 2,13,126.4 crore as of March 31, 2024.

Bharti Airtel converts $49.87 mn worth of foreign debt bonds into equity

Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has converted USD 49.87 million worth of foreign debt bonds issued in January 2020 into equity, the company said on Tuesday. Airtel had raised USD 1,000 million through foreign currency convertible bonds in January 2020 that were convertible into the company's fully-paid up equity shares of Rs 5 each at any time on or after February 27, 2020, and up to the close of business hours on February 7, 2025, at the option of the FCCB holders. "We wish to submit that upon receipt of notices for conversion of FCCBs of principal value of USD 49.87 million from certain FCCBs holder(s), the Special Committee of Directors for Fund Raising has, today i.e. on June 11, 2024, approved the allotment of 6,934,266 fully paid-up equity shares of face value Rs 5 each at a conversion price of Rs 518 per equity share to such holder(s) of FCCBs," Airtel said in a regulatory filing.
