HM Amit Shah, Bengal CM Banerjee to arrive in poll-bound Tripura today

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in Tripura on Monday to address two election rallies, and join a roadshow to boost the BJP's campaign in the poll-bound state, a party leader said. Elections to the 60-member assembly will be held on February 16. Counting will take place on March 2. During the visit, Amit Shah ji will address Vijay Sankalp' rallies in South Tripura's Santirbazar and Khowai, and attend a roadshow in Banamalipur constituency of Agartala, he said. Security arrangements have been tightened in the northeastern state in view of the Union minister's visit, a senior police officer said on Monday. Shah had participated in two Rath Yatras in Tripura last month, beginning the saffron party's campaign for the assembly polls. TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also scheduled to arrive in the state on Monday, and attend a roadshow and address a public meeting on Tuesday. HM Shah assures delegation from Sikkim of intervention amid protests

Home Minister Amit Shah assured a delegation of BJP leaders from Sikkim on Sunday that the finance and home ministries will file a review plea before the Supreme Court to seek clarity on the term "Sikkimese" in line with constitutional provisions, official sources said. The assurance from Shah came amid protests in Sikkim over the Supreme Court observation referring to Sikkimese Nepalis as "immigrants" while extending income tax exemption to all old settlers of the state. Shah told the delegation that sentiments of the Sikkimese community are respected. "The people of Sikkim are an integral and essential part of India. And the constitutional provision for the people of Sikkim shall be protected," he told them, sources said. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday visited the Thakur Anukul Chandra Ashram in Jharkhand's Deoghar district. Shah visited the ashram in Deoghar and stayed there for 20 minutes, an ashram official said. "Had the good fortune to visit Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra Ji's Satsang Ashram in Deoghar today. Amit Shah to visit Jharkhand's Deoghar today; will address BJP rally

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jharkhand's Deoghar, where he will lay the foundation stone of a nano urea plant of IFFCO and address a BJP rally on Saturday. He will also take part in the centenary celebrations of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapeeth, besides paying obeisance at the famed Baba Baidyanath Temple, as per an official statement. "The Union home minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of a Rs 300-crore nano urea plant of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO)," the company's Managing Director U S Awasthi told PTI. Amit Shah to visit K'taka on Feb 11 to take part in co-operative convention

Union Minister for Home and Co-operation Amit Shah will be visiting Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district to participate in a co-operative convention on February 11. The convention is being held at Puttur in connection with the golden jubilee celebrations of the central arecanut and cocoa marketing and processing co-operative limited (CAMPCO). The event will be held at the Vivekananda educational institution at Tenkila at 3 PM, CAMPCO sources said. He will also be visiting CAMPCO's chocolate factory in Puttur. This is the first visit of Shah to Dakshina Kannada ahead of the Assembly elections in the state. BJP Sankalpa Abhiyan campaign is presently going on in Puttur taluk. Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to address a series of rallies in Tripura on February 6 and 12 in his first political tour of the northeastern state after its assembly poll schedule was announced by the Election Commission. The BJP-ruled state is scheduled to vote for its 60-member assembly on February 16. Two other northeastern states, Nagaland and Meghalaya, will go to polls on February 27. The counting of votes for all three states is on March 2. Shah will also be holding public meetings in Nagaland and Meghalaya, and the schedule is being finalised, party sources said. The three poll-bound northeastern states may be small in terms of their electoral size but hold larger political significance.
