AP cabinet approves Rs 2,723 cr for Amaravati works, other investments

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet on Thursday approved two engineering projects worth Rs 2,723 crore for the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, including a 1 million tonne per annum green ammonia manufacturing facility and South India's first integrated energy project, among others. Although the previous YSRCP regime "neglected" Amaravati, Information & Public Relations Minister K Parthasarathy noted that the TDP-led government is taking steps to develop the greenfield capital to world-class standards. It has been decided to undertake development projects in Amaravati with financial assistance from the World Bank, HUDCO, and Germany. CM-led APCRDA approved infra works worth Rs 24,276 cr: Andhra minister

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved infrastructure works worth Rs 24,276 crore in greenfield capital Amaravati, Municipal Minister P Narayana on Monday said. The minister said the approval during the 43rd APCRDA meeting caters to trunk roads, layouts and iconic buildings. ADB approves $789 mn loan to develop Amaravati as smart, green city

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned a USD 788.8 million (over ?6,600 crore) results-based loan to Andhra Pradesh for the development of Amaravati as a green and smart capital city that offers world-class infrastructure. According to an official statement from ADB, the loan will be provided in Japanese yen, amounting to 121.97 billion yen. Andhra govt to call fresh tenders for Amaravati development works soon

The Andhra Pradesh government will soon call fresh tenders for the state capital development works here, state Municipal Minister P Narayana has said. Addressing reporters after the 39th Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting, Narayana said, World Bank agreed to give Rs 15,000 crore for Amaravati development works but insisted on completing flood prevention works as soon as possible. Consequently, action will be taken to build reservoirs within the 217 sq km Amravati core capital region and outside. The Municipal Minister said the old tenders called for Amaravati will be closed soon and fresh tenders will be called to complete Amaravati works in three years. HUDCO to lend Rs 11,000 cr for Amaravati greenfield capital construction

Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO), a navaratna central public sector enterprise, has come forward to lend Rs 11,000 crore for the construction of Amaravati greenfield capital city in Andhra Pradesh, the state government said on Monday. Municipal Minister P Narayana, who was in Delhi today, met with HUDCO chief executive Sanjay Kulshrestha and explained to him about the state's government's plans for Amaravati development. "Satisfied by the state government's proposals, HUDCO CEO agreed to lend Rs 11,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP CRDA) for Amaravati construction," an official release said. Out of the Rs 26,000 crore needed for constructing Amaravati Phase-1, the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) came forward to lend Rs 15,000 crore and the fresh promise of Rs 11,000 crore loan by HUDCO will ensure that the required amount of Rs 26,000 crore has been taken care of, it added.

CM Chandrababu Naidu restarts 'dream project' of Andhra's capital Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday restarted the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) project works here. The works at Rayapudi village in the capital region were restarted after a hiatus of five years, following the erstwhile YSRCP government abandoning Naidu's 'dream project'. Naidu took up the CRDA project office works in a seven-storey building at a cost of Rs 160 crore during his earlier tenure between 2014-2019. However, between 2019 and 2024, former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy promoted the idea of three capital cities and kept the development of Amaravati on the back-burner. With the emergence of Naidu as the CM of the bifurcated state for the second time post 2024 polls, Amaravati capital project received a shot in the arm. On October 16, the decision to restart the works was taken during a CRDA authority meeting, said an official statement on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said that the World Bank has agreed to extend Rs 15,000 crore loan to the state government for the construction of the capital Amaravati and its work will start from December. SC sets aside verdict cancelling caste certificate of MP Navnit Rana

The Supreme Court on Thursday set aside the Bombay High Court verdict cancelling the caste certificate of Amravati MP and BJP leader Navneet Kaur Rana. Allowing the plea of Rana, a bench comprising justices JK Maheshwari and Sanjay Karol said the high court should not have interfered with the report of the scrutiny committee on the issue of caste certificate of Rana. On June 8, 2021, the high court had said the 'mochi' caste certificate was obtained fraudulently using fabricated documents by Rana. It had also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the Amravati MP, saying the records indicated that she belonged to the 'Sikh-Chamar' caste. Rana, who had won the reserved Amravati parliamentary seat in Maharashtra as an independent candidate in 2019, has recently joined BJP and is all set to contest from the same constituency.She was backed by the NCP in 2019.

Prepare action plan to hand over houses to poor in Amaravati: Reddy

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday directed officials to prepare an action plan for constructing houses and hand them over to beneficiaries after distributing pattas for the eligible poor in the Amaravati capital region. Reviewing the government housing programme, the Chief Minister instructed officials to give special attention on expediting construction for the poor to get their houses at the earliest.
