Security forces have launched a massive search operation to track down terrorists at different places in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Thursday. The officials said police and army launched a joint search operation at Mohri Shahstar in Gursai top area of Poonch district late Wednesday night following information about the presence of some terrorists. Security forces challenged the terrorists moving towards the forest, leading to a brief firing, they said. Reinforcements were rushed and a massive search operation is underway to track down the terrorists, the officials said, adding security forces have deployed drones and sniffer dogs, while a helicopter was also seen hovering over the forest area this morning. Two Agniveers killed as shell explodes during firing practice in Nashik

Two Agniveers were killed when a shell from an Indian field gun exploded during firing practice at the Artillery Centre in Maharashtra's Nashik district, police said on Friday. The incident occurred at the Artillery Centre in the Nashik Road area on Thursday afternoon, an official said. Agniveers Gohil Vishwaraj Singh (20) and Saifat Shit (21) were killed in the blast, he said. A team of Agniveers was firing an Indian field gun when one of the shells exploded. The duo sustained injuries and were taken to MH Hospital, Deolali, where they were pronounced dead, the official said. Based on a complaint by Havildar Ajit Kumar, a case of accidental death has been registered with the Deolali Camp police, and further investigations are on, he said.

Indo-Russian JV BrahMos Aerospace to reserve vacancies for ex-Agniveers

Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace which manufactures BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles has decided to reserve vacancies for former Agniveers, including in the technical, administrative and security wings of the company. The BrahMos Aerospace became the first leading company in the defence sector to announce reserving vacancies for Agniveers in a range of verticals. An office order by the company said at least 15 per cent of vacancies in technical and general administration will be reserved for the Agniveers. It further said 50 per cent of the vacancies in administrative and security roles, including in outsourced functions, will be reserved for them. Bangladesh's interim government has granted magisterial powers to the Army for two months to improve law and order in the country and prevent "subversive acts". The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on the government's decision on Tuesday, saying it will be applicable with immediate effect. The powers will be given to commissioned officers of the Army. The order will remain in force for the next 60 days. Security forces seize arms consignment dropped by drone in J&K's Rajouri

Security forces seized on Friday a consignment of arms and ammunition suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, officials said. They said a search operation was initiated in the Nowshera area following the sighting of a suspected drone along the LoC in the Mangla battalion area. Army units engaged the drone with gunfire, and a cordon-and-search operation was launched in the early hours of the day, the officials added. During the search, a consignment suspected to have been by the drone was discovered and seized by Army and police personnel in the border village of Sehar in the Nowshera sub-division, they said. The items include a pistol, two magazines and 37 bullets. Search operations in the area are ongoing, the officials said.
