Russia will respond to Sunday's Ukrainian drone attacks on its airfields when and how the military deems appropriate, the Kremlin said on Thursday. Four additional victims have been identified in the Boulder attack in which a man is accused of throwing Molotov cocktails into a group that had gathered to bring attention to Israeli hostages in Gaza, authorities said Monday, bringing the number of injured to 12. The man planned the attack for more than a year and specifically targeted what he described as a Zionist group, authorities said in court papers charging him with a federal hate crime. Witnesses said the suspect, identified by Boulder police as Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, yelled "Free Palestine" and used a makeshift flamethrower and incendiary devices. The suspect's first name also was spelt Mohammed in some court documents. Stabbing at Oregon homeless shelter injures 12, suspect in custody
A dozen people were injured in a stabbing attack at an Oregon homeless shelter on Sunday night, and a suspect was arrested, police said. A man with an eight-inch (20-cm) knife walked into the lobby of the Union Gospel Mission in Salem around 7:15 pm, the Salem Police Department said on Monday. The man had been talking to people in the lobby when he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed several people, according to police. Other people in the vicinity were hurt when they tried to intervene, police said. The man then left the building and stabbed others who were nearby, sitting outside. Police arrested a suspect identified as Tony Williams, 42, across the street from the shelter. A Japanese court on Wednesday convicted a man who threw a homemade pipe bomb at Japan's former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at a 2023 campaign event, sentencing him to 10 years in prison, according to local media reports. Ryuji Kimura, 25, was charged with attempted murder for the April 15, 2023 attack on Kishida at a small fishing port in the western city of Wakayama, as well as four other charges including violations of laws on explosives and other weapons. In the ruling, the Wakayama District Court sentenced Kimura to 10 years in prison, according to Japan's public television and other media, without specifying which of the five charges he was found guilty of. Testimony is set to continue Tuesday in the trial of the man charged with stabbing famed author Salman Rushdie in a frenzied knife attack on a western New York stage. Jurors in the trial of Hadi Matar, 27, on Monday heard from staffers at the arts institution where Rushdie was set to give a speech in August 2022, when authorities say the Fairview, New Jersey man attacked the author on stage and stabbed him more than a dozen times. Rushdie himself is expected to testify during the trial. Matar has been in custody since he was subdued by spectators after the attack. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and assault. 7 Indians among around 200 injured in German Christmas market attack
