Luxury car segment like a growing startup, may hit 5% of car sales: Audi

Luxury car segment in India, which currently accounts for 1 per cent of the overall car sales in the country, is like a growing startup and it could become decent in size only when it crosses the 5 per cent mark, Audi India head Balbir Dhillon said on Monday. Audi India on Monday launched a refreshed version of its RS Q8 performance SUV in India, priced at Rs 2.49 crore. "The luxury car industry in India is like a startup which is still growing but it's growing for sure but it is still very small. Stating that it was not sure how much time would it take, whether 5 years or 10 years or 20 years, to reach the 5 per level, he sai

Luxury car sales could breach 50K mark for first time ever: Audi India head

Luxury car sales in India could cross the milestone of 50,000 units for the first time in a year in 2024 amid growing demand for such models, according to Audi India head Balbir Singh Dhillon. The overall domestic luxury car segment grew by 28 per cent annually last year to record sales volume of around 48,500 units. Luxury car volumes in India currently account for less than 2 per cent of the overall passenger vehicle sales annually and the sector has been more or less at the same level for the past decade. Audi reported an 89 per cent growth in retail sales in India at 7,931 units last year as compared to a total of 4,187 units in 2022. Similarly, Mercedes-Benz India recorded its best-ever year in its history in India with sale
