HMSI reports 3% decline in total sales at 430,683 units in August

Two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Wednesday reported a 3 per cent decline in total sales to 4,30,683 units in August. The company had sold 4,43,969 units in the same month last year. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said entering the festival season with a steady recovery in economic activity, the company's total sales stood at 4,30,683 units, including 4,01,469 domestic sales and 29,214 exports in August 2021. The domestic sales breached the 4-lakh mark with a growth of 18 per cent, compared to 3,40,420 units in July 2021, it said in a statement. The company's total sales in July stood at 3,84,920 units, including exports (44,500 units ), according to the statement. August ushers in the onset of the festival spirit in the country. Honda reports 49% increase in domestic sales at 11,177 units in August

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Wednesday reported a 49 per cent increase in domestic sales at 11,177 units in August as compared with the same month last year. The company had sold 7,509 units in the domestic market in August 2020, HCIL said in a statement. Exports stood at 2,262 units last month as compared with 450 units in August 2020, it added. "Positive sales momentum and overall strong demand helped us to achieve good volumes with the onset of the festive season. The celebratory fervour which began with Onam in Southern India will extend to the rest of the markets as we move towards the peak of festivities," HCIL Senior Vice President and Director (Marketing & Sales) Rajesh Goel said. The company's best-seller model -- Amaze, which has been launched in its latest avatar last month, drove commendable sales volume with 6,591 units and reinforced its position as the most preferred family sedan in India, he added. VE Commercial Vehicles posts nearly 2-fold jump in August sales

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, on Wednesday reported a nearly two-fold jump in total sales at 4,793 units in August 2021. The company had sold a total of 2,477 units in the same month last year, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV) said in a statement. Sales of Eicher branded trucks and buses were at 4,667 units last month as compared to 2,440 units in August 2020, a growth of 91.3 per cent, it added. In the domestic market, Eicher brand of CVs clocked sales of 3,864 units as against 2,190 units in the year-ago month, up 76.4 per cent. Exports of Eicher branded trucks and buses stood at 803 units last month as compared to 250 units in August 2020. Volvo trucks and Volvo buses recorded sales of 126 units in August 2021 as against 37 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said.

Mahindra's domestic passenger vehicle sales up 17% in August

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Wednesday reported a 17 per cent increase in domestic passenger vehicle sales at 15,973 units in August as compared to the same month last year. The company had sold 13,651 units in August 2020, M&M said in a statement. In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 11,432 vehicles in the domestic market last month, as against 15,606 units in the same month last year, a drop of 27 per cent. Exports increased to 3,180 units last month as against 1,169 units in the year-ago month. "Demand across our product portfolio continues to remain strong with Thar, XUV 300 and our recently launched Bolero Neo and our Bolero Pik-up range clocking in impressive booking numbers. Tata Motors reports 53% increase in domestic sales in August

Tata Motors on Wednesday said its total domestic wholesales increased by 53 per cent to 54,190 units in August as compared to the same month last year. The company had sold 35,420 units in August 2020. The auto major said its passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 28,018 units in August, up 51 per cent as compared to 18,583 units in the same month last year. Commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 29,781 units, up 66 per cent from 17,889 units in August 2020, it added. The auto major noted that semiconductor shortage continues to impact the auto industry globally. The recent lockdowns in East Asia have worsened the supply situation and hence Tata Motors is forced to moderate production and offtake volumes in the coming months, it said. Skoda Auto India posts nearly four-fold jump in sales at 3,829 units in Aug

Skoda Auto India on Wednesday reported a nearly four-fold jump in sales at 3,829 units in August 2021. The company had sold 1,003 units in the same month last year, Skoda Auto India said in a statement. While the newly launched SUV Kushaq has fueled the growth for the brand in India, other models such as Superb, Octavia and Rapid have also contributed to the increase in sales volumes, it added.
