The defence ministry signed a Rs 2,269-crore deal with state-run Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Tuesday for the procurement of 11 Shakti warfare systems, along with associated equipment. The electronic warfare system will be installed on-board the frontline warships of the Indian Navy, officials said. The Shakti systems are capable of accurately intercepting electronic emissions and implementing counter measures in a dense electromagnetic environment, they said. "The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hyderabad on February 13 for procurement of 11 Shakti Electronic Warfare Systems along with associated equipment/accessories for Indian Navy under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category at a total cost of Rs 2,269.54," the ministry said in a statement. State-owned Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) on Tuesday said it has bagged orders worth Rs 847.84 crore, including a major project from the finance ministry. The company bagged an order worth Rs 665.84 crore (plus taxes) from Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Ministry of Finance, to implement and manage IT infrastructure. "The scope of the project is to supply, install and maintain IT and networking infra, field IT support and centralised management and monitoring," BEL said in a filing to BSE, adding the maintenance support will be provided for five years which includes the implementation period. "This is one of the biggest civilian projects acquired on competitive basis by BEL during the current financial year," it said. BEL has also received orders worth Rs 182 crore towards miscellaneous spares and services. With this, BEL has received cumulative orders of Rs 28,494 crore in the current fiscal.

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) on Friday said it has received orders worth Rs 2,673 crore from Goa Shipyard Ltd and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. The company in a BSE filing said this will have participation of electronics and associated industries including MSMEs, which are sub vendors of BEL. The equipment manufactured by BEL are part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat' programme, the filing added. "BEL received orders worth Rs 2,673 crore from Goa Shipyard Limited (Rs 1,701 crore) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers ( Rs 972 crore) for supply of 14 types of sensors for use on Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPV)," it said. The company has also received additional orders worth Rs 86.15 crore since the last disclosure on December 15, 2023 and the orders pertain to miscellaneous spares and services. With this, BEL has bagged cumulative orders worth Rs 25,935.15 crore in the current financial year, the company added.

The defence ministry on Friday sealed an over Rs 5,300 crore deal with state-run Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) for procurement of electronic fuzes for the Indian Army for a period of 10 years. An electronic fuze is an integral component of medium to heavy calibre artillery guns which provide sustained artillery firepower for military operations. The ministry said the fuzes are being procured for usage in artillery guns which are capable of lethal engagements in various kinds of terrain including high-altitude areas along the northern borders. It said the aim of the project is to build up ammunition stocks to minimise imports. The first CBRN (Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear) HAZMAT (Hazardous Material) vehicle for NDRF was flagged off at BEL's Pune unit on Wednesday, it said.
