State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Tuesday said it has bagged an order from power giant NTPC to set up a 1,600 MW Singrauli thermal power project (Stage-II). The size of the order is more than Rs 9,500 crore, excluding GST (goods and services tax), BHEL said in a regulatory filing. "BHEL has received an order from NTPC for setting up the Singrauli Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2x800 MW) in Sonebhadra District, Uttar Pradesh," it stated. The engineering firm expects to complete Unit 1 in 50 months and Unit 2 in 54 months. The scope of the order includes supply of equipment, erection and commissioning as well as civil works, it said. Insolvency appellate tribunal NCLAT on Monday set aside a BHEL petition seeking to halt REC from initiating insolvency proceedings against Hiranmaye Energy, formerly India Power Corp (Haldia). The NCLAT said it sees no reason to interfere in the order passed by the Kolkata bench of NCLT admitting REC's insolvency plea against Hiranmaye Energy, and said claims filed by BHEL against the debt-ridden thermal power company should be dealt with in accordance with the law. The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on January 2, 2024, directed to initiate a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) against Hiranmaye Energy, admitting the plea filed by REC, formerly known as Rural Electrification Corporation. Coal India Limited (CIL) on Wednesday said it will hold a 51 per cent stake in the joint venture with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the coal-to-chemicals project in Odisha. "To form a JV company to undertake coal-to-chemicals business by initially setting up a Coal to 2000 tons per day (TPD) Ammonium Nitrate Plant using BHEL's in-house developed PFBG (Pressurized Fluidized Bed Gasification) technology," the company informed the bourses. "Equity shareholding shall be 51 per cent with CIL and 49 per cent with BHEL," the miner said. The CIL project involves its subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Jharsuguda district of Odisha at an estimated project cost of Rs 11,782 crore considering a debt-equity ratio of up to 70:30, the government said earlier. State-owned BHEL on Wednesday said it has bagged an order to set up an 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Yamunanagar in Haryana. The 800 MW Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant (DCRTPP) will be Haryana's first ultra-supercritical technology-based power project, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) said in a statement. "Under International Competitive Bidding (ICB), BHEL has won an order for setting up an 800 MW Ultra-supercritical thermal power plant on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, at Yamunanagar, Haryana, from HPGCL (Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd.)," the company said. State-owned BHEL on Tuesday posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 148.77 crore for the third quarter ended December 2023, impacted by higher expenses. It had posted a net profit of Rs 42.28 crore in the October-December period of the preceding 2022-23 financial year, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income rose to Rs 5,599.63 crore from Rs 5,353.94 crore a year ago. Its expenses increased to Rs 5,816.87 crore from Rs 5,320.84 crore in the third quarter of the last fiscal. BHEL is one of the largest engineering and manufacturing companies, engaged in design, engineering, construction, testing, commissioning and servicing a wide range of products and services.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) will set up a greenfield thermal power plant of 2,400 MW capacity in Odisha's Jharsuguda district, an official statement said on Saturday. NLC India Limited, a Navaratna company under the Ministry of Coal, has awarded the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract to BHEL to set the 2,400 MW capacity (3x800 MW-stage I) after inviting competitive tenders, it said. The contract scope to BHEL includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of equipment such as boilers, turbines and generators for the plant, the statement said. For the thermal project, coal linkage is available from Talabira II and III mines of NLCIL. The water required for the project will be sourced from Hirakud reservoir, it said. The first unit of the project is scheduled for commissioning in the financial year 2028-29.
