Lalu Prasad Yadav blames PM Modi for BJP parliamentarians 'bad behaviour'

RJD president Lalu Prasad on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of giving rise to a "depraved social and political culture" which was manifest in the behaviour of BJP parliamentarians. The former Bihar chief minister, who was also a member of the Manmohan Singh cabinet. came out with the statement in Hindi in the social media. "The Prime Minister has given rise to a depraved (vikrit) social and political culture in which one of his MPs glorifies the terrorist who assassinated Father of Nation Gandhi ji," he wrote without taking any names. The allusion was apparently to Bhopal MP Pragya Thakur, who had called Nathu Ram Godse a "patriot", only to retract later under mounting public criticism. Women's reservation bill: BJP criticises Cong, says party playing politics

As the discussion on the women's reservation bill began in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the ruling BJP criticised the Congress, saying the party was trying to play politics on it and wondered why the opposition keeps on claiming that nothing has been done. The constitutional amendment bill provides for 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The reservation will come into force only after census and delimitation exercise. Speaking on the bill, BJP member Nishikant Dubey said things work as per the Constitution amid criticism in certain quarters about the bill not being brought earlier. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday dismissed speculation about factionalism within the BJP's Rajasthan unit after veteran leader Vasundhara Raje was left off the party's Parivartan Sankalp Yatra on her home turf. The absence of Raje, a former Rajasthan chief minister and Union minister, from the event in Jhalawar -- which she has represented for 33 years in various capacities -- triggered speculation of a rift within the party. Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh has written to the Union and the state governments seeking enactment of specific legislation to deal with the cases of desecration of religious texts as the current law legal regime was "insufficient". Ahead of assembly polls due next year, the Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP underwent a reshuffle of its state office bearers. The reshuffle, executed by state BJP president Biyuram Wahge, was officially ratified by the BJP central office in New Delhi, a party statement said here on Friday.
