Kuwy launches a platform for complete online car sales process

Automotive fintech startup Kuwy on Thursday said it has launched a platform for complete online car sales process by bringing together buyers, sellers and lenders. The Chennai-based company, which is a subsidiary of Volkswagen Finance, introduced - KUWYLaaS, an AI-driven platform with block chain technology to complete car sales online. In addition to democratising online car sales with complete transparency, the technology provides greater level of information to power the choice as well as right decision making for all three - seller, buyer and lender. "KUWYLaaS will jump start the journey of online car retailing in India. The technology innovation in the KUWYLaaS will not only eliminate all the challenges associated with online car sales today but also provide deeper insights that will enable the completion of online transactions," Kuwy CEO & Co-Founder B Ganesh Kumar noted. Maruti Suzuki reports marginal increase in production in January

The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Wednesday said it has witnessed a marginal increase in production last month. In a regulatory filing, the auto major reported a total production of 1,61,383 units in last month as compared to 1,60,975 units in January 2021. "The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during the month," it noted. MSI said total passenger vehicle production stood at 1,57,668 units last month, against 1,56,439 units in January 2021. Production of mini cars comprising Alto and S-Presso models stood at 23,321 units last month as compared to 27,665 units a year ago. Manufacturing of compact cars, comprising WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire, rose to 87,165 units from 86,282 units earlier, MSI said. Similarly, production of utility vehicles -- Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, and XL6 -- increased to 33,550 units last month from 29,199 units in the corresponding month of 2021. The

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Thursday said it has clocked almost one lakh bookings of its latest sports utility vehicle XUV700 besides billing the first 14,000 units of the vehicle by January, despite global supply chain issues. The company in a statement also said that while the dynamic supply chain issues continue to be a challenge in streamlining and ramping up production, it is doing its best and focusing on meeting its committed delivery timelines to customers. Given the unprecedented bookings and the continued strong demand for the vehicle, the waiting period for most variants stands at 6-10 months. However, the AX7 series has a waiting period of well over 12 months, it stated. The homegrown auto major had launched XUV700 in August last and opened bookings from early October. The deliveries of the XUV700, however, commenced only from October 30. Hyundai Creta tops SUV exports from India in 2021 with 32,799 units

Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday said its model Creta has led the SUV exports from India in 2021 with dispatches of 32,799 units. Overseas shipments of the model grew 26.17 per cent year-on-year over 2020 when it had dispatched 25 995 units. In total, the automaker noted that it exported 42,238 SUVs last year. "Ever since its global debut, Creta has been a runaway success in domestic and international markets alike. It has been successful in evoking aspirations and has stood the test of time by retaining customer appreciation, thereby playing a strategic role in Hyundai's Global SUV portfolio," Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) MD & CEO Un Soo Kim said in a statement.
