Punjab govt launches career counselling initiative for class 12 students

The Punjab government has come out with an initiative to reach out to class 12 students to assist them in their academic and professional endeavours. The initiative is aimed at supporting the aspirations of students passing out from government schools in Punjab, School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, adding the government would reach out to class 12 students with questions about their future plans to understand and nurture their dreams. Bains said the department has circulated a 'Google Form' to all the students appearing for class 12 board examinations. According to an official statement, the form, accompanied by a message from Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, invites students to share their immediate plans and long-term goals -- ?be it higher education, entrepreneurship, or competitive exams. CIEL Group makes 'strategic investment' in Next Leap Career Solutions

City-based CIEL Group has made a strategic investment in Next Leap Career Solutions Pvt Ltd by signing a definitive agreement to acquire 100 per cent equity stake in tranches, the company said on Sunday. The acquisition is part of the strategic vision of the company to expand its offering in the human resource services space. "With this acquisition, CIEL Group strengthens its position further as a workforce solutions company leveraging technology," said a company statement. Pi Capital and Legalogic are advisors of Next Leap Career Solutions, while NovoJuris represents CIEL Group in this deal. However, the company did not disclose the value of the deal. Singaporeans 'generally agreed' with foreigners' importance in country

Singaporeans generally agreed with the importance of the country, dubbed as Asia's financial hub, remaining open to foreigners competing for jobs, according to a latest survey. About 81 per cent of the people agreed that it is good that Singapore is a hub as it provides good job opportunities for Singaporeans, even if some jobs will go to foreigners, Channel News Asia reported, citing the survey of the government's feedback and engagement unit REACH. Majority of the respondents (63 per cent) strongly agreed or agreed that it is important that Singapore remains open to foreigners while 25 per cent were neutral, and only 10 per cent strongly disagreed or disagreed, said REACH which conducted the survey between August 11-21. The sample was weighted to be demographically representative of the national population in terms of gender, age and race.
