Chhattisgarh: CM Baghel inaugurates 2 more districts, takes total to 33

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday inaugurated Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur and Sakti as the 32nd and 33rd districts of the state, an official said. Sakti is carved out from Janjgir-Champa while Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur has been demarcated from Koriya district, he said. Addressing a public meeting at Manendragarh, the CM said the struggle to make it a district has been going on for long. "Even before Baikunthpur became the district headquarters, people have been demanding the creation of Manendragarh district. Their dream is now reality," he said. He also performed ground-breaking of 309 development works worth Rs 153 crore.

Prodn halts at Parsa East, Kanta Basan coal block operated by Adani Group

Coal production has stopped at Parsa East & Kanta Basan block in Chhattisgarh since last month, and it may "adversely impact" the coal output target from captive mines for this year, an official statement said on Tuesday. Parsa East and Kanta Basan, a 15 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) coal mine operated by Adani Group and owned by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RRVUNL) in Chhattisgarh, stopped producing dry fuel since mid-August due to continuous protests by residents of the nearby forest area, according to sources. During the review of the coal blocks undertaken by additional secretary, coal, and nominated authority in the presence of project proponents, "it was noted with concern that Parsa East & Kanta Basan coal block production has stopped and Parsa coal block production has not started. Ex-Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh tests positive for Covid-19 a second time

Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh on Sunday said he has tested positive for COVID-19. Chhattisgarh sees 296 Covid-19 cases, no death; active tally rises to 1,363

Chhattisgarh on Friday reported 296 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 2.42 per cent, taking the tally to 11,55,791, while the death toll remained unchanged at 14,040, an official said. Durg led with 60 cases, followed by 53 in Raipur, 26 in Rajnandgaon, 22 in Bilaspur, 19 in Bemetara, 15 in Korba and 13 in Balodabazar, he said, adding that no coronavirus case was reported in five districts. So far, 11,40,388 persons have recovered from the infection, including 136 during the day, leaving the state with an active caseload of 1,363, the official said. With 12,230 samples examined during the day, the overall number of tests carried out so far went up to 1,79,92,016, he added. Chhattisgarh's coronavirus figures are as follows: Positive cases 11,55,791, new cases 296, death toll 14,040, recovered 11,40,388, active cases 1,363, today tests 12,230, total tests 1,79,92,016.
