Outgoing Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday congratulated Vishnu Deo Sai on being elected as the leader of the BJP's legislative party in the state. Sai (59), a prominent tribal face of the BJP, will be the next chief minister of Chhattisgarh as he was picked as the leader of the BJP's legislative party in the state during a meeting of the 54 newly elected party MLAs here earlier in the day. Baghel wrote on X in Hindi, Congratulations and best wishes to Kunkuri MLA and senior BJP leader Shri Vishnu Deo Sai ji on being elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party. The BJP scripted a stunning victory, bagging 54 of the 90 assembly seats in the recently concluded polls in the state. The Congress, which had won in 68 constituencies in 2018, was reduced to 35 seats this time. The Gondwana Gantantra Party managed to win one seat.

Chhattisgarh's next CM Vishnu Deo Sai reaches Raj Bhavan to meet Governor

A delegation of BJP MLAs led by its Chief Minister-designate Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday evening reached the Raj Bhavan in Raipur to stake claim to form the next government in Chhattisgarh. Senior BJP MLA Brijmohan Agrawal told reporters, We have handed over a letter to the Governor stating that Sai ji has been elected as the legislative party leader. However, Agrawal said that the date of the swearing-in ceremony would be informed later. Former Union Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to be new CM of Chhattisgarh

Vishnu Deo Sai, a prominent tribal face of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Chhattisgarh, will be state chief minister after he was elected as leader of BJP's legislative party during a meeting of 54 newly-elected MLAs here on Sunday. Incidentally, addressing a poll rally in the Kunkuri constituency last month, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah had urged voters to elect Sai, promising to make the latter a "big man" if the party comes back to power in the state. The BJP won 54 seats in the 90-member Assembly in the recently held polls, while the Congress was reduced to 35 seats from the 68 it won in 2018.
