The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Maharashtra Police has registered an offence against officials of IT major Cognizant Technologies, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and unknown government officials in an alleged USD 7,70,00 bribery case. On April 19, the sessions court here had directed the ACB to investigate allegations against Cognizant Technologies that it paid a bribe through its construction contractor (L&T) to local government officials to secure necessary permits and environmental clearances for its campus at Hinjawadi on the city's outskirts between 2013 and 2014. The offence was registered against officials of Cognizant Technologies; Manikandan Rammurthy, former vice president (administration and real estate officer, Cognizant, India), then officials of L&T, and unknown government officials who had accepted the bribe under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the ACB said in a release. American IT firm Cognizant on Monday said it has partnered with Microsoft Corporation to expand the reach of the latter's generative AI and copilots, enhance employee experiences, and accelerate cross-industry innovation. A civil court in Bengaluru will pass orders on January 3 on two interlocutory applications (IA) by Wipro Limited's former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jatin Pravinchandra Dalal seeking arbitration with his former company. The suit filed by Wipro on November 28 seeks payment of compensation of Rs 25,15,52,875 with interest of 18 per cent for allegedly violating a clause in his employment contract with the company. Dalal resigned from Wipro in September and is set to join rival Cognizant in January. Allegedly, the non-compete clause prevents Dalal from joining a rival within one year of leaving the company, failing which he would be liable to compensate Wipro with the value of the Restricted Stock Units (RSU) allotted to him or the sum of his total remuneration in the previous 12 months.
