More than 500 applicants have registered for Delhi Development Authority's new housing scheme under which over 32,000 flats of different categories have been put up for sale, officials said on Friday. The 'Diwali Special Housing Scheme 2023' entails disposal of newly built-up or soon-to-be completed flats through end-to-end online system. The registration for the scheme for flats offered on first come first serve (FCFS) basis began on November 24, and the scheme will close on March 31, 2024, officials said. Booking of these flats will begin from December 11, they said. Till 8 pm today, more than 350 registrations had been done, a senior official of DDA said, adding the number grew to over 500 by 9 pm. The number is steadily growing, he said. The flats under FCFS scheme are located at Narela, Dwarka and Lok Nayak Puram. The apartment complex in Mukherjee Nagar, built in 2007-09 with 336 MIG and HIG flats, has some construction issues and is up for demolition by the Delhi Development Authority. The Delhi Development Authority has launched a mega e-auction for prime plots, built-up shops, kiosks and mobile tower sites among other properties, officials said on Wednesday. Online bidding of these properties has been scheduled for three days from November 7 to 9, and the exercise has been grouped for public convenience, they said. "The DDA (Delhi Development Authority) has invited bids for 50 institutional plots, including 20 religious sites on leasehold basis, 12 industrial plots, 46 residential plots, two group housing plots, 28 commercial plots and 19 small-size residential plots at Rohini, all on freehold basis," the urban body said in a statement. The century-old Roshanara Club in Delhi - the cradle of Indian cricket - was on Friday sealed by the Delhi Development Authority, which also took possession of the historic club, officials said. The action was taken in the early hours and comes nearly six months after an "eviction notice" was served on the club by the DDA as its lease had expired earlier, a senior official said. The historic club was established on August 15, 1922 and had turned 100 last year. Endowed with natural beauty, green pastures and colonial-era charm, Roshanara Club, located in north Delhi, has emerged as one of the most prestigious clubs in the country. Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Friday inaugurated a 23-acre sports complex at Dwarka and called it a "beautiful gift for the people of Delhi" from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Around 25 per cent of the 5,500 flats on offer as part of an ongoing housing scheme of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), has been booked since July 10, officials said on Friday. The DDA on June 30 launched on a first-come, first-serve (FCFS) basis a housing scheme that includes 5,500 flats across all categories at various locations in Delhi. More than 650 flats were booked on July 10 itself, soon after the booking window was opened on DDA's website starting at noon. All 50 flats in Dwarka were completely sold out on the first day. The Supreme Court on Monday directed the DDA to halt for a week its ongoing drive to demolish over 800 alleged illegal dwelling units built on its land at Vishwas Nagar area of east Delhi to enable residents to relocate. The draft Master Plan for Delhi-2041 is likely to be notified by the end of March, officials said on Thursday. The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had earlier this month approved the draft master plan with Lt Governor VK Saxena highlighting its thrust for inclusive development, sustainability and innovative interventions such as transit-oriented development hubs, land pooling, heritage and Yamuna rejuvenation, and regeneration of the city. "The DDA has already approved the draft Master Plan and we are in the process of sending it to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. We are hopeful that the ministry will approve it by the end of this month or by early April, following which it will be notified," said an official.
