The Karnataka government on Tuesday approved the revision of Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees from the existing 38.75 per cent to 42.5 per cent. The announcement comes weeks before the Lok Sabha elections. The DA will be revised from 46 per cent to 50 per cent for the employees drawing central pay scales, an official statement said. "This change represents a significant financial commitment of Rs. 1792.71 crores every year, reaffirming our dedication to our employees, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on 'X'.

Arunachal govt announces additional 4% dearness allowance for its employees

The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced an additional 4 per cent dearness allowance (DA) for its employees, officials said on Tuesday. The hike, effective from January 1, will benefit 68,818 state government employees and 33,200 pensioners, they said. With this hike, the DA for employees and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners has reached 50 per cent. The state has to spend an additional Rs 124.20 crore per year for this, they added. "Under the guidance of Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, our double-engine sarkar is committed to the welfare of all citizens, including those dedicated to delivering government services," Chief Minister Pema Khandu posted on X. Bank employees to get 17% annual wage hike; 5-day work week awaits govt nod

Indian Banks' Association and bank employee unions on Friday agreed on an annual wage hike of 17 per cent, a move that will result in an additional yearly outgo of around Rs 8,284 crore for public sector banks. As many as 8 lakh bank employees are set to benefit from the wage hike, which will be effective from November 2022. Centre hikes dearness allowance to 50% of basic pay for its employees

The Centre on Thursday hiked Dearness Allowance (DA) to 50 per cent of basic pay from the existing rate of 46 per cent effective from January 1 this year, benefitting over 1 crore employees and pensioners ahead of general elections. The Union Cabinet has approved to release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners from January 1, 2024, representing an increase of 4 percentage points over the existing rate of 46 per cent of the basic pay/pension, to compensate against price rise, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said after the Cabinet meeting. The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be Rs 12,869 crore per annum. The impact would be Rs 15,014 crore during the year 2024-25 (January 2024 to February 2025). Gujarat hikes DA of govt employees by 4%, also raises its NPS share

Just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Gujarat government on Thursday announced a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. With this hike, the DA of Gujarat government employees, which was 42 per cent earlier, will now be 46 per cent, a state government resolution (GR) said. The DA has been hiked with effect from July 1, 2023, and employees will be given arrears for the last eight months, it said. Around 4.45 lakh state government employees and 4.63 lakh pensioners will benefit from the decision to hike DA, an official release said. The government has also decided to increase its own contribution in the National Pension System (NPS) from 10 per cent to 14 per cent, while state employees will have to pay 10 per cent, the release said. Uttarakhand govt increases DA of employees by 42% to 46% per month

The Uttarakhand government has increased the Dearness Allowance of its employees under the seventh pay commission from 42 per cent per month to 46 per cent, according to an order issued here. The revised DA will be applicable with effect from July 1, 2023, and arrears will be paid to beneficiaries in cash, it said. From January 1, 2024, onwards, the revised DA will be paid to the employees along with their salaries every month, the order said. This will apply to state government employees and regularised and full-time employees of aided educational and technical education institutes, it added.

CM Banerjee announces 4% DA hike for WB govt employees from Jan 1

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced that her government would be giving a four per cent raise in dearness allowance (DA) to all its employees from New Year's Day. Banerjee made the announcement while speaking at the inauguration of the Kolkata Christmas Carnival 2023 at Allen Park in Park Street area of the city. "I announce that all 14 lakh state government employees, teaching and non-teaching staff of all schools, colleges and universities, and employees of all statutory undertakings and parastatals and pensioners would be getting another instalment of 4 per cent DA from January 1, 2024," Banerjee said. Punjab CM announces 4% dearness allowance hike for govt employees

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday announced a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance of government employees with effect from the ongoing month. Following the hike, the DA will increase to 38 per cent, Punjab State Ministerial Services Union (PSMSU) President Amrik Singh said. A decision in this regard was taken following a meeting with the representatives of the PSMSU here. During the meeting, Mann discussed various demands of the employees. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Wednesday announced a four per cent hike in Dearness Allowance for government employees with retrospective effect from July 1, 2023. The move is set to benefit about 16 lakh state government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners, entailing an additional, annual expenditure of Rs 2546.16 crore, an official release here said. Railway Board announces 4% hike in dearness allowance for employees

The Railway Board has revised the dearness allowance for its employees from 42 per cent to 46 per cent of the basic pay effective from July 1, 2023. The Board circulated a written communication dated October 23, 2023, to the General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of All India Railways and Production Units stating, "...the President is pleased to decide that the Dearness Allowance payable to Railway Employees shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 42% to 46% of the Basic Pay with effect from 1st July, 2023." Centre may hike dearness allowance by 3% to 45% for its 10 mn employees

The central government is likely to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for its over one crore employees and pensioners by three percentage points to 45 per cent from the existing 42 per cent as per the agreed formula for the purpose. The dearness allowance for employees and pensioners is worked out on the basis of the latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) brought out by the Labour Bureau every month. MP hikes DA for staffers to 42% with retrospective effect from Jan 1

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday said his government would give 42 per cent dearness allowance (DA) to its employees like the Centre with retrospective effect from January 1. It will benefit more than seven lakh government employees, officials said. "We have taken a lot of revolutionary steps in the interest of employees. Now, we have decided to give 42 per cent DA (with a hike of 4 per cent) like the Centre from January itself, the Chief Minister tweeted. The arrears from January to June on account of this hike will be given in three installments, he said, adding that all employees under the Sixth Pay Scale will also see a proportional increase in DA.
