Effective defence-industry ecosystem developing in country: General Pande

Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande on Wednesday said an effective defence-industry ecosystem is taking shape in the country and veterans with their field experience are "ideally suited" for incorporation into indigenous research and manufacturing of technological solutions required by the force. In his address at the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) Summit 2024 held at the Manekshaw Centre here, he said the Army's responsibility towards its veterans remains a "sacred commitment". GRSE earns Rs 1,654 cr revenue from operations in 1st half of 2023-24

Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) on Friday said it earned a revenue of Rs 1,654 crore from operations in the first half of 2023-24 financial year, an increase of 31 per cent over the corresponding period in the last fiscal. The Kolkata-headquartered warship builder earned a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 209 crore, while the profit after tax (PAT) was Rs 157 crore, a 45 per cent rise over the first half of 2023-24, GRSE said in a press statement. Earnings per share stood at Rs 13.74, an increase of 45 per cent over the same period in the previous fiscal, it added. Also announcing the quarterly results from July to September 2023-24 financial year, the GRSE said its total income stood at Rs 969 crore in the period as against Rs 722 crore in the same period in 2022-23, an increase of Rs 247 crore. It said that revenue from operations for the second quarter of 2023-24 stood at Rs 898 crore as compared to Rs 682 crore in the same period in 2022-23, an .

Defence PSU making headway in developing indigenous top-end military gear

Troop Comforts Ltd (TCL), a defence PSU, has received a request for proposal (RFP) for a number of its indigenously developed military gear while several of its products are in the field trial stage. Among the products being developed by the company are boots and crampons, ice pitons, hammer pitons, sleeping bags and multi-purpose bags, besides clothing items. The RFPs have been received from the Northern Command of the Indian Army, while field trials are going under the Eastern Command, its officials said. TCL was carved out of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board and commenced functioning under its present format in October 2021. Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited bags orders worth Rs 3,289 crore

Navratna defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received new defence and non-defence orders worth Rs 3,289 crore during July and August 2023 (till date). The orders are for supply of Low Level Light Weight Radars, SONARS, IFF Systems, SATCOM Systems, EO/IR Payloads, TRM/DTRMs, Jammers, Encryptors, Data Link Systems, Fire Control Systems, Radars for Directed Energy Systems, Semi Rugged Telephone Exchanges, Software Defined Radios and various others types of radios, Electronic Voting Machines, AMC and Spares, the company said. These also include the LoI / order worth Rs 1,075 crore received on Friday from Hindustan Shipyards Limited for supply of CMS, Communication Systems, EW Systems and other sensors for Fleet Support Ships, the Bengaluru-headquartered BEL said in a statement. "These orders are in addition to the Rs 8,091 crore orders, which are already received. With this, BEL has in all received orders of Rs 11,380 crore till now in the financial year 2023-24", it said.

GRSE signs pact with Rolls Royce Solutions to make marine diesel engines

Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rolls Royce Solutions of Germany for manufacture of high-quality marine diesel engines at the former's plant in Ranchi, an official said here on Saturday. The Indian Navy's Chief of Material Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani was present at the signing of the MoU, he said. "The MoU deals with transfer of technology related to engine assembly, painting, parts sourcing and after-sales service for these engines that are to be assembled at GRSE's Diesel Engine Plant in Ranchi," the company official said in a statement. It will provide a great opportunity to local industry, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises involved in the manufacture of components and spares, he said. Defence PSU GRSE making 7 vessels for foreign countries: Official

Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd is making seven vessels for foreign countries, out of the 23 ships that are in the different stages of construction, its chairman and managing director Commodore (retd) P R Hari said. GRSE, which had bagged the prestigious Rs 19,294-crore order for the construction of three advanced stealth frigates under Project 17A for the Indian Navy, has already launched two of these ships and the construction of the third one is in full swing. "Of the 23 ships being developed by GRSE, seven are for foreign countries," Hari told PTI. The Kolkata-based warship maker is constructing six patrol boats for Bangladesh and an ocean-going passenger and cargo ferry vessel for Cooperative Republic of Guyana, he said. Bharat Dynamics pays Rs 92 crore interim dividend to Central govt

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), a Hyderabad based Defence Public Sector Undertaking on Monday had paid an interim dividend of Rs 92.008 crore to the government of India.According to the official release, BDL declared payment of interim dividend for the financial year 2020-21 at Rs 6.70 a share of the face value of Rs 10 each.
