Tata Power Delhi Distribution on Thursday said it has fulfilled the renewable purchase obligation for the third year in a row and bought 26 per cent of electricity from clean energy sources in 2022-23. Under the Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO), discoms are required to source a fixed percentage of their total power purchase from renewable energy sources. "Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd has fulfilled the RPO for the third consecutive year, a unique feat for any discom in the country," a company statement said. The company, which supplies electricity to 70 lakh people in north and northwest Delhi, sourced 2,600 million units of green power in 2022-23 from various sources of renewable energy, including solar, wind, and hydro, it said. Renewable power constituted more than 26 per cent of the total units sold by the company to its consumers, it added. The highest decision-making body of the Delhi Development Authority on Wednesday gave its nod to sell 40 HIG flats of the DDA to the city's Public Works Department (PWD), officials said. In a meeting of the authority, chaired by Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena, who is also DDA's chairman, it also approved the change of land use of land for the construction of a five-lane toll plaza (RFID system) at Ghazipur's old location. A Delhi government project to upgrade 1,400 km of roads is picking up pace with the PWD set to hire a consultant to frame bid documents for the mega infrastructure push, officials said Friday. The Delhi Public Works Department has already floated a tender to hire the consultant, who will hired for four months. The tender requires the consultant to be empanelled with the National Highways Authority of India or any central or state government ministries or departments. The consultant should have also carried out similar consultancy services or transaction advisory services for infrastructure project including highways, water supply, urban infrastructure projects costing at least Rs 500 crore on Public-Private-Partnership or Engineering-Procurement-and-Construction or Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), according to official documents. Locals claimed that the drive that started in the morning was demolishing two and three-storeyed buildings near Aulia Masjid at Andehria More along with shanties. The land on which the alleged encroachment was done belonged to multiple agencies including DDA, Waqf Board, and ASI, they claimed. "A demolition drive is being carried out by the Horticulture Department of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority. Police personnel have been deployed on the spot as preventive protection for DDA officials to carry out their duties and also to maintain law and order in the locality. Initially, the localities had staged a protest against the demolition but the situation was later brought under control," said a senior police official. A project to identify real-time sources of pollution in Delhi has moved one step closer towards operationalisation, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday.
