Average housing prices in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) have risen by nearly 50 per cent in the last five years, driven by higher demand, according to Anarock. Real estate consultant Anarock's data shows that the average rate of residential properties in Delhi-NCR has risen by 49 per cent to Rs 6,800 per square foot in January-June 2024 from Rs 4,565 per square foot in the same period of the 2019 calendar year. Similarly, in the MMR, the average housing prices grew 48 per cent to Rs 15,650 per square feet from Rs 10,610 per square feet during the period under review. The weather department, in its notification at 3 pm, said that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, with wind speeds of 40 to 60 kmph, and lightning, is likely to occur across Delhi and the NCR. "There is no warning for heavy rain in Delhi as of now," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official told PTI. The IMD stated that their predictions analyse models and other measurements, which sometimes do not align. For instance, due to the shifting of the rainfall belt, heavy rain did not occur in Delhi as forecast last time. The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday searched about 35 premises in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Nagpur as part of a money laundering probe against a company and its promoters accused of perpetrating an alleged bank loan fraud of more than Rs 20,000 crore, official sources said. The raids are being carried out on the Amtek Group and its directors, including Arvind Dham, Gautam Malhotra and others. About 35 business and residential premises in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Mumbai and Nagpur are being raided since this morning, the sources said. The probe stems from a CBI FIR against a group entity of Amtek-- ACIL Limited-- on allegations of a bank fraud of more than Rs 20,000 crore in a number of listed companies which were finally taken over in NCLT proceedings at nominal price leaving the consortium of banks with nominal recovery, they said. The unsold housing stock in Delhi-NCR has declined 57 per cent in the last six years to 86,420 units at the end of March quarter this year, according to Anarock. Real estate consultant Anarock said in its latest report that NCR's unsold stock declined from 2,00,476 units at the end of the March 2018 quarter to 86,420 units as of March 31, 2024. In the same period, the main southern cities (Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai) saw their unsold stock decline from 1.96 lakh units in Q1 2018 to over 1.76 lakh units in Q1 2024. Santhosh Kumar, Vice Chairman of Anarock, said, "What really worked for the NCR market was developers' determination to keep new supply addition under control".
