The Jammu and Kashmir administration has transferred several officials, including deputy commissioners, a couple of weeks after the Election Commission directed the poll-bound states to transfer out officers posted in their home districts. The Election Commission will announce the schedule for assembly elections on Friday afternoon. However, it is still not clear for which states the election schedule will be announced. The poll panel plans to hold assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir before September 30, the deadline set by the Supreme Court. Telangana govt's proposed farm loan waiver scheme to benefit 7 mn farmers

Telangana government is all set to launch a farm loan waiver programme, part of its poll promise benefitting 70 lakh farmers, on Thursday, official sources said. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had earlier announced that the government would implement the loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15. The loan waiver funds up to Rs one lakh will be deposited in the farmers' accounts at 4 pm on Thursday. The chief minister said Rs 7,000 crore in total would be credited to the accounts of farmers whose loans of up to Rs one lakh are being waived. Crop loans of up to Rs 1.5 lakh would be waived by the end of July, and the loan waiver process would be completed in August when loans of up to Rs two lakh are dispensed with. Karnataka DCM to hold meeting for improving inter-agency coordination

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday said he would hold a meeting with all the MLAs and MPs of Bengaluru on July 27 to discuss improving coordination among various agencies in the city for better governance. The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a PIL challenging the practice of appointing deputy chief ministers and said this does not breach the Constitution. This is just a label and even if you call someone a deputy chief minister, it does not change the status, a bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachaud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said while trashing the PIL filed by the Public Political Party.
