The Government of Andhra Pradesh in collaboration with state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) has launched three transformative programmes to drive energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment across the state, according to a statement. State-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) will soon introduce retail franchisee shops called 'Urja Dakshta Dukan' which will offer affordable energy-efficient products like LED lights, ACs and fans to consumers, a senior official said. EESL, at present, distributes products through retail tie-ups with power distribution utilities to consumers. Buyers can also purchase the products online from its web portal EESLMART.in. The first batch of franchisee outlets is expected to open in Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Telangana, the official said. State-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) on Monday announced it has installed over 30 lakh smart prepaid meters across five states and union territory Andaman and Nicobar under its Smart Meter National Programme. EESL has completed the installation of over 10.5 lakh smart meters in Bihar, 11.57 lakh smart meters in Uttar Pradesh, 1.24 lakh in Rajasthan, 5.3 lakh in Haryana, around 64,000 in NDMC area of Delhi and 74,000 smart meters in Andaman and Nicobar, the company said in a statement.
