Tata Power on Tuesday said it has ramped up Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure on the Chandigarh-Shimla route to facilitate eco-friendly travel. Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc on Monday said it has partnered with Inland EV Green Services for deployment of 10 electric vehicle trucks. The move aims at reducing carbon emissions and promote cleaner modes of transportation. Dedicated to the inter-operations transport of concentrates, these eco-friendly trucks reaffirms the company's commitment to green and sustainable practices, it said. These trucks have a charging capacity of 20 to 100 per cent in just 90 minutes, the company added. Industry body Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles on Thursday said it is temporarily suspending its present constitution while appointing former BJP spokesperson Sanjay Kaul as its Chief Evangelist to help revise the agenda of the association. Kaul has been tasked with helping the EV sector tide over the crisis faced since last year with almost all OEMs in the sector dealing with issues of non-compliance with policy details of the FAME II scheme and rejig the association, Society Of Manufacturers Of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) said in a statement. SMEV will go into voluntary hibernation to coincide with the appointment of Kaul as Chief Evangelist. Electric vehicle startup Simple Energy on Tuesday announced raising USD 20 million (about Rs 165 crore) from a clutch of investors as a part of its ongoing Bridge round. The funds will be utilised in a phased manner to ramp up production of the company's maiden e-scooter Simple ONE, which has not yet been delivered to a single customer even after 18 months of its launch. The company has been deferring deliveries of the vehicle since December 2021. "We have received a phenomenal pre-booking response, and to cater to the demand, we are raising funds in a timely manner.
