Tata Power adds to EV charging infrastructure on Chandigarh-Shimla route

Tata Power on Tuesday said it has ramped up Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure on the Chandigarh-Shimla route to facilitate eco-friendly travel. The route connects two major cities -- Chandigarh and Shimla -- serving as a crucial link for travellers and businesses alike. "Tata Power, one of India's largest and leading EV charging solutions providers announced the activation of its EV charging infrastructure along the Chandigarh- Shimla highway, covering a total distance of 111 kms and addressing the demand for reliable charging options on this popular route," a company statement said. The strategically positioned charging stations at Hotel Falcon Crest on the Chandigarh-Shimla Highway around Kandaghat and The Oberoi Cecil, Chaura Maidan Road near Shimla, enhance the feasibility of EV travel on the route, as per the statement. Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc partners with Inland EV Green Services

Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc on Monday said it has partnered with Inland EV Green Services for deployment of 10 electric vehicle trucks. The move aims at reducing carbon emissions and promote cleaner modes of transportation. Dedicated to the inter-operations transport of concentrates, these eco-friendly trucks reaffirms the company's commitment to green and sustainable practices, it said. These trucks have a charging capacity of 20 to 100 per cent in just 90 minutes, the company added. "Our collaboration with Inland EV Green Services Pvt Ltd represents a significant step forward in our decarbonisation journey," Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra said.

EV motorcycle startup Raptee raises $3 mn pre-Series A funding round

Premium EV motorcycle startup Raptee on Tuesday said it has raised USD 3 million in a pre-Series A funding round. The all-equity funding round led by deep-tech VC fund BlueHill Capital, also saw participation from industry stalwarts as well as HNIs, Raptee said in a statement. The funds will be utilised for augmenting the manufacturing facility, acquiring machinery, tooling for the soon-to-be launched motorcycle, and to scale up the team, it said. "This is our first institutional round. We want to launch a motorcycle in a mid-premium segment. SnapE cabs to more than double fleet in FY'24, expand to smaller cities

Ride-hailing app SnapE, which operates EV cabs, is planning to more than double its current fleet by the end of FY'24, and venture into smaller cities, a company official said on Tuesday. The company also plans to induct more women drivers in its workforce, said Mayank Bindal, the managing director of EC Wheels, which operates under the SnapE brand. "Besides expanding in the greater Kolkata region, which is our base, we plan to venture into smaller cities such as Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Varanasi, Raipur, Indore, Bhopal, Jaipur and Ahmedabad over the next few years because of the potential of the untapped market," he told PTI in an interview. "We also want to provide affordable green vehicles to tourists, and are targeting the Varanasi-Ayodhya-Chitrakoot and Puri-Bhubaneswar-Konark-Chilika circuits initially," he said. EV makers body SMEV suspends constitution, appoints Sanjay Kaul for rejig

Industry body Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles on Thursday said it is temporarily suspending its present constitution while appointing former BJP spokesperson Sanjay Kaul as its Chief Evangelist to help revise the agenda of the association. Kaul has been tasked with helping the EV sector tide over the crisis faced since last year with almost all OEMs in the sector dealing with issues of non-compliance with policy details of the FAME II scheme and rejig the association, Society Of Manufacturers Of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) said in a statement. SMEV will go into voluntary hibernation to coincide with the appointment of Kaul as Chief Evangelist. It will suspend all operational actions until such time a new structure is fashioned under his guidance, it added. JK Tyre Industries is looking to expand its retail network across the country by up to 20 per cent over the next 12-18 months, a top company official said on Monday. The company, which on Monday expanded its retail presence in North India by opening six outlets, is also looking to bolster presence in the fast-growing sports utility vehicle and electric vehicle verticals. Electric vehicle ecosystem platform Fyn Mobility on Thursday said it has partnered with Exponent Energy to roll out 1,500 Altigreen manufactured electric three-wheelers, which could be fully charged in 15 minutes. EV startup Simple Energy raises $20 mn from investors in Bridge round

Electric vehicle startup Simple Energy on Tuesday announced raising USD 20 million (about Rs 165 crore) from a clutch of investors as a part of its ongoing Bridge round. The funds will be utilised in a phased manner to ramp up production of the company's maiden e-scooter Simple ONE, which has not yet been delivered to a single customer even after 18 months of its launch. The company has been deferring deliveries of the vehicle since December 2021. "We have received a phenomenal pre-booking response, and to cater to the demand, we are raising funds in a timely manner. The funds raised will be strategically used to aid the production ramp-up and for a quicker delivery commencement," said Suhas Rajkumar, founder and CEO of Simple Energy.
