NIC to develop email service for 5 mn govt staff with security features

As it looks to secure official communications between various departments, the government will soon provide email service developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) to all its employees with a multi-pronged security layer.NIC, which manages the IT infrastructure of the government, will be launching the new email service for 5 million officials in a couple of months. The service has got various security features, which will nullify any external attack on the emails.As per a senior official in the Communications and IT Ministry, geofencing will be done with the email service, which means any officer will be able to log-in only from the location he has identified as his base. If an official has identified Delhi as his location, he will not be able to log-in from any other location. In case of travelling outside, officials need to inform NIC about the duration and venue of travel, so that the geofencing can be disabled for the period.Similarly, officials can be able to log-in only ...
