As it looks to secure official communications between various departments, the government will soon provide email service developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) to all its employees with a multi-pronged security layer.NIC, which manages the IT infrastructure of the government, will be launching the new email service for 5 million officials in a couple of months. The service has got various security features, which will nullify any external attack on the emails.As per a senior official in the Communications and IT Ministry, geofencing will be done with the email service, which means any officer will be able to log-in only from the location he has identified as his base. If an official has identified Delhi as his location, he will not be able to log-in from any other location.
