The UPSC on Friday postponed the Engineering Services Examination-2025 to give sufficient time to the aspirants for preparation, following a change in scheme for the recruitment of Indian Railway Management Service officers, according to an official statement. The decision came after the government decided that the recruitment to the IRMS would be made through both the Civil Services Examinations and the ESE. In order to give sufficient time to the aspirants of ESE-2025 to prepare for the examination, the Commission has decided to postpone the ESE (Preliminary) and ESE (Main) Exam, 2025, said the statement issued by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). "The ESE (Preliminary) 2025 and ESE (Main) 2025 will now be held on 8th June 2025 and 10th August 2025, respectively," it added. Garuda Construction and Engineering Ltd on Thursday said it has fixed a price band of Rs 92-95 per share for its Rs 264-crore Initial Public Offering (IPO). The initial share sale will open for public subscription on October 8 and conclude on October 10, the Mumbai-based company announced. The IPO is a mix of fresh issue of 1.83 crore equity shares and an Offer For Sale (OFS) of 95 lakh equity shares by promoter PKH Ventures. The IPO size has been pegged at Rs 264 crore at the upper end of the price band. Proceeds from its fresh issuance to the extent of Rs 100 crore will be utilised for working capital requirements; and balance towards general corporate purposes including unidentified inorganic acquisitions. Half of the issue size has been reserved for qualified institutional buyers, 35 per cent for retail investors and the remaining 15 per cent for non-institutional investors. Wipro Hydraulics, part of homegrown Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, on Thursday said it has acquired the US-based Columbus Hydraulics to strengthen its presence in North American market. The company did not disclose the transaction value. The entity has been acquired to strengthen presence in the North American market, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering said in a statement. Wipro Infrastructure Engineering said it has acquired 100 stake in Columbus Hydraulics through its hydraulics cylinder manufacturing business Wipro Hydraulics. State-owned BHEL on Wednesday reported the widening of its consolidated net loss to Rs 211.40 crore for the June quarter, on account of higher expenses. It had clocked Rs 204.70 crore loss for the April-June period of the preceding 2023-24 fiscal, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income rose to Rs 5,581.78 crore from Rs 5,117.20 crore in the year-ago quarter. Expenses stood at Rs 5,874.98 crore as against Rs 5,409.47 crore a year ago. Precision engineering and manufacturing firm Balu Forge on Monday said its on-year net profit grew over two-fold to Rs 34.16 crore in the April-June quarter this year, driven by higher income. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 16.67 crore in the April-June period of FY24. The company said revenue from operations for the reporting quarter stood at Rs 175.3 crore, up 56 per cent from Rs 112.38 crore in the first quarter of the earlier fiscal, helped by focus on client addition and continued demand for the specialised engineering products. Patel Engineering Ltd on Saturday reported a 78 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit after tax to Rs 140.35 crore for the March 2024 quarter on account of higher revenues. It had posted a Rs 78.83 crore "net profit after tax (PAT) from continuing operations" during the year-ago period, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's revenue from operations also rose by 11 per cent to Rs 1,343.18 crore from Rs 1,205.06 crore in the January-March quarter of the preceding 2022-23 fiscal. The Supreme Court on Thursday protected former Noida Authority chief engineer Yadav Singh from arrest by the CBI in a corruption case in which he allegedly executed 1,280 maintenance contracts worth Rs 954 crore in eight days in December 2011. A bench comprising Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Prasant Kumar Mishra took note of the submissions of senior advocate NK Kaul, appearing for Singh, that a bailable warrant has been issued against the accused after the central probe agency filed a supplementary charge sheet against him in the case. The bench has now posted the plea for hearing after four weeks. The senior lawyer said the top court had granted him bail following his over three year incarceration in the case and he now apprehends fresh arrest in the wake of the filing of the fresh supplementary charge sheet.
