EEPC to focus on WANA region for enhancing engineering goods exports

Engineering Exports Promotion Council on Wednesday said it would focus on the West Asian and North African countries for enhancing exports to the WANA region. The EEPC, in a statement, said there is ample scope for increasing bilateral trade with the WANA countries, especially for engineering exports. The council is also holding an exhibition 'INDEE' at Jordan, which is India's fourth largest trading partner in the region. In 2022, India's engineering exports to Jordan stood at USD 136.4 million, which was 33 per cent higher than the target of USD 109 million for the period. Jordan is strategically located in the western Asian region, the statement said, quoting EEPC chairman Arun Kumar Garodia. He said India and Jordan share vibrant social, economic and business ties with expanding trade and investment flows between the two countries. AIIMS to allow contractors from PSUs to participate in tender process

The AIIMS has issued a memorandum allowing contractors empanelled with MES, railways and other central PSUs to participate in the tendering process for increasing transparency and competition in their engineering contracts. To increase confidence amongst prospective bidders, the engineering contracting system will also be modified. One team of engineers will prepare the estimates and finalise the tender while the other team will monitor the execution of the contract and make payment to the contractors in a timely manner, the memorandum issued on April 27 stated. This will ensure dual checks and double vigilance in the system, it said. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), in its memorandum, said that in a bid to increase competition, contractors registered with Military Engineer Services (MES), railways and other central PSUs will be allowed to participate in the tenders apart from the contractors registered with Central Public Works Department (CPWD). CARS24 launches engineering research & development centre in Bengaluru

CARS24, an e-commerce platform for pre-owned vehicles, on Friday launched its first engineering research and development centre here. The centre will focus on developing cutting-edge solutions for used vehicle inspection, refurbishment, and reconditioning, it said in a statement, adding that it will employ engineers and specialists from across the country. The AI-powered algorithms used by the centre will ensure accurate vehicle valuation, the company said. "In addition to developing advanced technological solutions for vehicle inspection and valuation, the centre will analyse data on pre-owned vehicle sales and market trends, providing statistical models and machine learning algorithms that will predict future demand for certain types of vehicles, identify growth opportunities, and optimise pricing strategies", the statement added.

Shrachi group engineering firm order book position at Rs 1,800 cr: official

The order book position of BTL EPC Ltd, the engineering arm of city-based Shrachi Group, stands at Rs 1800 crore, an official said. The engineering entity recently bagged an order from BHEL for setting up an ash handling system for a supercritical thermal power plant in Telangana which is valued at Rs 446 crore. Managing Director of BTL EPC Ravi Todi said, "The order book position of the company now stands at Rs 1800 crore after bagging an order of around Rs 446 crore from BHEL for a power plant in Telangana." He said that in 2021-22, the company clocked a revenue of Rs 330 crore, and for the current fiscal year it is expected to register healthy growth. "Going by the current trends, we are expecting a clock a turnover of Rs 450 crore", Todi said.
