First editions of Gandhi's autobiography, Rushdie's 'Midnight's Children' at Saffronart sale
First edition copies of Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography, "The Story of My Experiments with Truth: Volumes I and II" will go under the hammer at an upcoming online auction by Saffronart's StoryLTD. Printed in 1927, the two volumes of Gandhi's autobiography will come in their original binding of green cloth boards with black lettering on the spine and front panel. They are estimated at Rs 2.5 - 3 lakh. The sale featuring 107 first editions, signed and limited edition books, will be held on June 25-26. "The 24-hour online auction offers a collection spanning a wide range of themes such as art, music, politics, literature and sports," Saffronart said in a statement on Friday. 'Kabir Singh' an unusual love story: director Sandeep Reddy Vanga
With "Kabir Singh", a remake of his Telugu hit "Arjun Reddy", director Sandeep Reddy Vanga wanted to make an "unusual love story" where the lead character has a "specific way" of looking at a girl and expressing his emotions. "Kabir Singh", played by Shahid Kapoor, is the third take on the story, which was also remade in Tamil as "Adithya Varma". All three versions have drawn criticism for their depiction of toxic masculinity as the central character, a doctor, descends into self-destruction and alcoholism following a heartbreak. Ron Howard to direct first animated film
Filmmaker-actor Ron Howard is set to direct his first animated film based on "The Shrinking of Treehorn", a children's book by Florence Parry Heide with illustrations from Edward Gorey. According to Variety, the project is one of the four original animated and live-action hybrid movies Howard and Brian Grazer have set up through their Imagine Entertainment banner, in a joint venture with Australian production company Animal Logic. The story revolves around a young man who begins shrinking in size after playing a strange board game. The makers said the visual language of the film will be similar to Gorey's style. "Peter Rabbit" scribe Rob Lieber is writing the script for the film.
