Summons to Kangana, sister in defamation cases filed by
A court here Tuesday issued summons to Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel, seeking their appearance in connection with defamation cases filed by actor Aditya Pancholi and his wife. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S B Dighe issued two summons each against Kangana and Rangoli with regard to the four cases filed by Pancholi and his wife Zarina Wahab. While the cases against Kangana are related to her interviews and statements made during a television show, those against her sister are related to comments made on social media. "She (Kangana) had claimed that Aditya kept her under house arrest and she registered an FIR against him, but since no such FIR was ever registered, there is prima facie case that she defamed him," Pancholi's lawyer Shreya Shrivastava said. Mumbai doctor writes to Maharashtra Health Min against 'Kabir Singh'
A Mumbai-based doctor has written to Maharashtra Health Minister Eknath Shinde complaining about the alleged "negative" portrayal of doctors in the recently released movie 'Kabir Singh' stating that the film sends a "wrong message" about the medical profession.Dr Pradeep Ghatge wrote the letter to Shinde on Tuesday."They have shown absolute nonsense in the movie. Cracking an MBBS exam itself is a very difficult task. How can an alcoholic person with bad habits top the university exam? Doctors will surely stand against this movie. Journalist files complaint in court accusing Salman Khan of assault
A TV journalist moved a court here Tuesday seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood star Salman Khan and his bodyguards for allegedly assaulting him after he tried to film the actor who was riding a bicycle. Ashok Pandey, the journalist, filed a 'private complaint' in the court of R R Khan, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Andheri, under IPC sections 323 (causing hurt), 392 (robbery), and 506 (criminal intimidation). According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place in the wee hours of April 24 when Salman Khan was riding a bicycle escorted by two body-guards. Pandey said he was riding in a car, and after spotting the actor -- known to be a bicycle enthusiast -- started recording a video after seeking consent of Khan's bodyguards. Kerala HC nod to screening of Patwardhan's documentary 'Vivek'
The Kerala High Court Tuesday permitted the screening of Anand Patwardhan's documentary 'Vivek' (Reason) at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Thiruvananthapuram. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry had raised objection to the screening of the documentary as it felt that its theme was sensitive in nature and "might have law and order ramifications". The documentary and short film festival is being held from June 21 to June 26. Granting permission, subject to conditions, Justice Shaji P Chali directed the Kerala government to ensure that no law and order situation arises due to its screening. The court directed that the documentary should not be screened anywhere else without the permission of the Censor Board and authorities concerned. It also said that all directives of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting should be complied with while screening the documentary.
