Director Sanjay Gupta says his 25-year-long career is full of "hits and misses" but looking back, he feels happy that he has managed to bounce back overcoming every adversity. Best known for films such as "Kaante", "Musafir", "Zinda", the "Shootout" series and "Kaabil", Gupta tasted success early by 40, he was on the verge of quitting the industry over some "terrible years" in between. He made his directorial debut exactly 25 years ago with "Aatish: Feel The Fire". The film, starring Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Aditya Pancholi among others, was backed by GP Sippy. "It was the easiest film to cast. I was mostly working with friends. Thanks to Sanju, the film was getting made because no big movie gets made unless you have a star, so that was the start," Gupta told PTI in an interview. Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has revealed that his favourite movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is "Thor: Ragnarok". The 56-year-old director said even though he has not been keeping up to date with the MCU movies, he has recently started watching the films from the studio in order to prepare himself for "Avengers: Endgame". "I think the only comic book movies I saw last year at theatres were 'Wonder Woman' and 'Black Panther'. But about a couple of weeks ago I started catching up with some of the Marvel movies so I could go see 'Endgame'. "I just finished 'Captain America: Civil War', so next up is 'Doctor Strange'," Tarantino told Empire magazine. The director added that he has a special liking for filmmaker Taika Waititi's "Thor: Ragnarok" "I loved it. It was my favourite one of the series since 'The Avengers' drastically my favourite." A Jodhpur court on Monday acquitted actor Salman Khan in a case of submission of a fake affidavit in connection with the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.His affidavit had claimed that he lost the license documents of his weapons though the license had been sent for renewal."Salman Khan's intention was not to submit a false affidavit or provide frivolous information on his license. A court here on Monday acquitted Bollywood actor Vidyut Jamwal and his friend in a 2007 assault case. Metropolitan magistrate Pragati Yerlekar acquitted Jamwal and his friend Rishant Goswami of all the charges levelled against them. Details of the order are awaited. Jamwal and his friend were accused of hitting one Rahul Suri, a resident of Juhu area, with a bottle at a five-star hotel in suburban Santacruz in August 2007. During the course of trial, the court examined two witnesses, the police officer who recorded the First Information Report (FIR) another person. Jamwal's lawyer Aniket Nikam had argued before the court that the actor and his friend were innocent. "They were never involved in the alleged incident. There was no satisfactory evidence to point out before the court the culpability of my clients," Nikam told PTI on Monday. Jamwal has acted in films like 'Commando', 'Force', 'Baadshaho' and 'Junglee'.

Ace cinema director Maniratnam underwent a 'routine' health check-up at a corporate hospital here and is back to work, his office said Monday. The clarification from the director's office comes amidst reports in a section of media that he had been admitted to the hospital with suspected cardiac issues. The hospital also said the 'Yuva' maker had come there for a 'routine' check-up and left later. "After a routine check up Maniratnam sir (is) back to office today with his routine work...
