Safex-backed AgCare Technologies starts online marketplace for agri inputs

Safex Chemicals-backed AgCare Technologies has started an online marketplace 'Golden Farms' to digitise agricultural input supply chain in India. In January 2023, Safex Chemicals invested Rs 100 crore in AgCare Technologies. "Delivering to over 16,000 PIN codes, the mobile app allows customers to procure inputs required in agriculture directly from manufacturers, ensuring better pricing and higher product quality," Safex said in a statement. The platform is set to make the procurement process more streamlined, transparent, and accessible to customers across rural India. Currently, the app offers 22 agrochemical products, with herbicides making up 35 per cent and insecticides accounting for 45 per cent of the portfolio. The platform has already onboarded over 16,000 dealers spread across the country. Govt monitoring rice situation in domestic, intl mkts on weekly basis

The government is closely monitoring the rice situation in the domestic as well as international markets on weekly basis and it can increase the percentage share in global rice trade when favourable conditions arise, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. India has banned export of broken and non-basmati white rice in view of uncertainty around rice production here and other rice producing countries due to geopolitical scenario, El Nino sentiments and extreme climatic conditions to check domestic prices and ensure adequate availability in the market here. Govt expects good crop production in rabi season; sowing area up: Tomar

The government expects "good" production of agriculture crops in the ongoing rabi (winter-sown) season on the back of higher sowing area and favourable soil moisture condition, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Saturday. Tomar held a meeting with senior officials of the ministry to take stock of the rabi crops position, according to an official statement. He highlighted that sowing area in rabi season is up 24.13 lakh hectares so far as compared with the year-ago period. Tomar expressed satisfaction that area coverage reported under wheat is 152.88 lakh hectares so far as compared to 138.35 lakh hectares in the corresponding period of last year "For wheat, there is an increase in area coverage by 14.53 lakh hectares over last year and this has been the highest ever since last four years," the statement said. As on November 25, total area sown under rabi crops reported was 358.59 lakh hectares (which is 57 per cent of the normal rabi area) as compared to 334.46 lakh
