3 restaurants, 2 shops, flats gutted in fire in Shaheen Bagh, no casualties

Three restaurants, two shops and flats were gutted in a fire that broke out in southeast Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area on Saturday, officials said. The officials of Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said no casualties were reported in the incident. The officials said they received a call at 5.44 PM reporting that a fire broke out in electric wires outside a restaurant in Shaheen Bagh's 40 Foota Road. Shaheen Bagh Resident Welfare Association member, Riyaz said they immediately informed the local police soon after a restaurant caught fire. By the time, fire fighting engines reached the spot, it had spread to the restaurant, they said. Around 18 fire tenders were pressed into service and took one and a half hours to control the blaze. Riyaz further told the media, "The station house officer came within five minutes but the fire engines came late. Two flats also caught fire but thankfully, no one was injured in the incident." Parents of newborns injured in last month's blaze at a private neonatal hospital in east Delhi are eagerly awaiting their return home. The infants were admitted to different hospitals following the tragedy at the Baby Care New Born Hospital in Vivek Vihar on May 26 that claimed the lives of seven newborns and left five babies injured. Delhi metro train's pantograph catches fire at Rajiv Chowk station

A pantograph of a Delhi Metro train caught fire at Rajiv Chowk station on Monday evening due to some external material getting caught between it and the overhead equipment for electrification, the DMRC said in a statement. Nearly 1,400 girl students had a lucky escape on Monday when they were safely evacuated from a school building that was engulfed by a massive fire in a remote mountainous region of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a media report. Delhi govt to direct hospitals to complete fire audit by June 8: Bharadwaj

In the aftermath of a fire at a neonatal hospital that killed seven newborns, the Delhi government will issue directions to all private and state-run hospitals to complete a fire audit by June 8 and submit a compliance report, Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Monday. Bharadwaj had called for a meeting to discuss the fire incident at the neonatal hospital in east Delhi's Vivek Vihar area. "On April 24, we had issued directions to all hospitals for fire preparedness. On May 8, we had asked them to conduct a fire audit. We will ask all private and Delhi government-run hospitals to complete a fire audit by June 8 and submit a compliance report to the Health department," he told reporters. 7 people injured in fire at chemical factory in Delhi's Bawana: Police

At least seven people were injured following a blast and a massive fire in a chemical factory in Delhi's Bawana area on Sunday, police said. The condition of three of the injured is critical, they added. "A call regarding a fire at a factory in Sector 1, Bawana industrial area was received at 3:04 pm. Twenty fire-tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames," Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg said. A fire broke out at NTPC's Kaniha plant in Odisha's Angul district on Saturday, fire service officials said.
