Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday launched a district master plan under the PM GatiShakti initiative for infrastructure planning in 27 aspirational districts of the country. A national master plan portal is there under the initiative for efficient planning and implementation of infrastructure projects. Goyal said that the district master plan will be expanded to cover more than 750 districts across the country in the next 18 months. The minister also launched the guidelines for preparing logistics plans to help cities tailor their logistics planning. As many as 39 ministries of central government and all 36 states and Union Territories have been onboarded on PM GatiShakti platform, which was launched on October 13, 2021, an official statement said on Thursday. The PM GatiShakti initiative was launched to develop an integrated infrastructure to reduce logistics costs. Four infrastructure projects of roads and railways worth Rs 19,520.77 crore have been recommended for approval under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, an official statement said on Wednesday. This takes the total number of projects assessed by Network Planning Group (NPG) to 115 with a total value of about Rs 11.70 lakh crore, since the launch of PM Gati Shakti, it said. These four projects were assessed in the 57th NPG meeting on October 17. "NPG assessed four projects including three projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and one project of the Ministry of Railways, with the total project cost of Rs 19,520.77 crore," the commerce and industry ministry said. The inter-ministerial NPG meets every fortnight and appraises infra projects to ensure multi-modality, synchronisation of efforts, and comprehensive development in and around the project location. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya on Wednesday signed a pact for advancing the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Under the MoU, the university will be the nodal agency across the country to design, develop and deliver courses and curriculum related to PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy at various centres in different states, an official statement said. It was signed by Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Vice-Chancellor Manoj Choudhary and Joint Secretary, Logistics Division, DPIIT, E Srinivas, in the presence of Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Allcargo group firm Gati on Wednesday said it is expecting an 1820 per cent increase in festive season demand, particularly in segments such as e-commerce and white goods, among others, this year. The company said it is geared up to cater to this anticipated surge with its enhanced warehousing and service delivery capabilities.
