The Congress on Thursday released another list of five candidates for the February 14 Goa Assembly elections. With this, the party has so far declared 36 candidates. While Ekvis Gomes will contest from Panaji, Tukaram Borkar will be the Congress nominee from Siroda and Jose Luis Carlos Almeida will contest from the Vasco-da-Gama seat. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said it will not have an alliance with the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for the forthcoming Goa Assembly elections. The AAP is determined to provide a fresh alternative to Goa with good candidates and form an honest and corruption- free government, the party's Goa desk in-charge Atishi said. The Assembly polls in the coastal state are due early next year. I say with full responsibility that there will be no alliance with TMC. So, there is no question of any talks with them. The Congress will start the process of shortlisting candidates from November 26 for the Goa Assembly polls scheduled for early 2022, state unit chief Girish Chodankar said on Tuesday. He said party observer Prakash Rathod would be holding meetings with functionaries of all 40 blocks in the Assembly constituencies to shortlist candidates. "The process for south Goa will take place on November 26-27, while the north Goa district will submit names of probable candidates on November 28 and December 1. On November 30, the Pradesh Election Committee will meet to discuss the already shortlisted names, while the Screening Committee will meet on December 3-4," he said. In the absence of any alliance at the moment, candidates would be shortlisted for all 40 seats in the Goa Assembly, Chodankar said.
"I have spoken a lot about it (alliance). What will happen you will see for yourself in action," Fadnavis told reporters soon after his arrival in Goa.
