Gurugram water supply project to be completed by May 2026: CM Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said the Gurugram water supply project will be completed by May 2026 and provide uninterrupted drinking water supply to the city and Manesar, according to an official statement. The Mewat feeder pipeline project has also been prepared and both these projects will cost about Rs 2,267 crore, the chief minister said while chairing a meeting on remodelling of Gurugram water supply with Irrigation and Water Resources Department officials. P C Meena, CEO of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), joined the meeting virtually. The chief minister said the Gurugram water supply project worth about Rs 1,517 crore has been prepared keeping in mind the population of Gurugram, Manesar and Bahadurgarh by 2050. "By that time, these cities will require about 1,504 cusecs of water. The Gurugram water supply project will start from Kakroi and end at Basai. REC Chairman flags off first fleet of electric staff vehicles in Gurugram

REC Chairman and Managing Director Vivek Kumar Dewangan on Thursday flagged off the first fleet of electric staff vehicles in Gurugram. In a path towards a green future, REC Ltd has set a target of replacement of all conventional staff vehicles with electric vehicles by 2024-25, a company statement said. "In a transition to EV mobility, Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), REC Limited flagged off the first fleet of Electric Vehicles (EV) on Thursday at REC World Headquarters, Gurgaon," it stated. Realty firm Chintels group has offered to buyback about 180 flats from homebuyers of three towers of its project in Gurugram as they have been declared unsafe after a partial collapse last year. In February last year, a partial collapse of a residential tower in Chintels Paradiso project led to death of two women. The CBI has taken over the investigation into the partial collapse of the Chintels Paradiso project, located in Sector 109, Gurugram. The Supreme Court is also hearing the plea of residents seeking compensation and action against developer. In a letter to Gurugram Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the Director General of Town and Country Planning, Haryana, Chintels India has given two options to affected homebuyers. Co-living operator Settl. to open 4 new centres in Gurugram by next month

Co-living operator Settl. will soon open four new centres, with a total capacity of about 300 beds, in Gurugram to cater to the rising demand of rental accommodations from working professionals. Settl. already has seven operational co-living properties with about 700 beds in Gurugram, the Bengaluru-based firm said in a statement. That apart, the company currently has 1,200 beds in Bengaluru and 300 beds in Hyderabad, taking the total beds to 2,200 across these three cities. NHRC issues notices to Hry govt, Gurugram municipality over sewer death

The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Haryana government, the Gurugram Police and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram after the decomposed body of a man was pulled out from an open sewer. Taking suo motu cognisance of a media report, the commission said it is issuing the notices "over the reported death of the man after falling into a open sewer in Gurugram". The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) said Badshahpur police personnel received information on April 20 that foul smell was coming out from an open sewer manhole near the Vatika Chowk area on Sohna Road. When a police team reached there, they spotted a body inside the sewer, it said. The decomposed body was taken out by a fire brigade team from the 10-feet-deep sewer, it said and added that a laptop bag, a mobile phone and a power bank were also recovered. Haryana reports 1,348 new Covid-19 cases, active tally reaches 5,468

Haryana on Friday reported 1,348 fresh coronavirus cases, over half of them from Gurugram and Faridabad, the two districts in the National Capital Region which have been fuelling the current surge in infections in the state. According to the state health department's bulletin, out of total fresh Covid infections, Gurugram reported 598 cases followed by 159 in Faridabad. Among other Haryana districts, Rohtak and Jind reported 89 cases each while Hisar, Panchkula and Jhajjar reported 68, 59 and 55 cases, respectively, according to the bulletin. The total number of active cases in the state was 5,468. According to the bulletin, Covid positivity rate in the state on Friday was 13.82 per cent. During the past over a fortnight, the state has seen a surge in the number of fresh infections, with most cases being reported from Gurugram and Faridabad districts.

Massive fire breaks out in wheelchair manufacturing company in Gurugram

A massive fire broke out due to a short circuit in a wheelchair manufacturing company in Sector 4 of IMT Manesar here on Friday. More than 100 employees were working at the company at the time of the incident. However, all of them managed to come out safely, according to a fire department official. Fire officer Narender Yadav said they received a call at 5.15 pm regarding the fire at Forza Medi India Private Limited in Sector 4 of IMT Manesar. The fire department team reached the spot and pressed 12 fire tenders into service which managed to douse off the flame after two-and-a-half hours of effort, the official said. The fire spread rapidly from the ground floor to the first due to machinery and goods in the plant. The company has suffered a big loss in the incident, added Yadav.

Housing sales in Gurugram up by 10% in January-March, says Anarock

Delhi-NCR's prime residential market Gurugram saw a 10 per cent rise in housing sales during January-March, but demand fell in Noida and Greater Noida by 23 per cent, according to Anarock. Market experts attributed the rise in sales in Gurugram to strong demand for luxury homes. Sales dropped in Noida-Greater Noida due to lesser launches of new projects and lower demand amid increase in mortgage rates as well as property prices, they added. Data from real estate consultant Anarock showed that housing sales in Gurugram went up 10 per cent to 9,750 units in January-March from 8,850 units in the year-ago period. However, Noida-Greater Noida saw a 23 per cent decline in sales to 4,250 units from 5,495 units. In the rest of Delhi-NCR market like Delhi and Ghaziabad, housing sales fell 30 per cent to 3,160 units from 4,490 units.
