HCLTech to acquire certain assets of HPE's Communication Tech for $225 mn

IT company HCLTech on Thursday said it will acquire certain assets of Hewlett Packard Enterprise's Communications Technology Group (CTG) for USD 225 million, about Rs 1,874 crore, in an all-cash deal. As part of this agreement, approximately 1,500 employees and 700 contractors with experience of engineering services for telecom industry in various countries -- including Spain, Italy, India, Japan, China, Americas and APAC region -- will be transferred to HCLTech, the companies said in a note. HCLTech in a regulatory filing mentioned that the deal is for "purchase of certain assets (CSS) of Communications Technology Group, a business division of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company. CSS delivers engineering services to leading global Communications Service Providers (CSPs) leveraging its intellectual properties in a global delivery model" for which "total purchase price is USD 225 million". HP gaming PC sales in India more than doubles to 285,000 over two years

The sale of HP Inc gaming PCs in India has more than doubled to 2.85 lakh over two years ending March 31, 2023 even though business remained almost flat in 2022-23, according to industry sources. The company has recorded sales of 1.31 lakh gaming personal computers (PCs) in FY21, and more than doubled to 2.82 lakh in FY22. HP India did not the reveal the actual data but said the company continues to see growth in gaming PC sales even in this fiscal year. "The contribution of gaming even for HP in our overall portfolio has been suddenly rising in the last 2-3 years. It rises even this year as we speak. "The shares that we have in the market -- not only in the overall market but within the gaming sub-segment -- are also industry leading and we have actually grown very fast on that front also in the last few quarters," HP India, Senior Director, Consumer Sales, Vineet Gehani, told PTI. Foxconn, HP, Lenovo, 35 other firms apply for PLI IT hardware scheme

As many as 38 companies, including big names like Foxconn Group, HP, Dell and Lenovo, have applied for incentives under the mega Production Linked Incentive (PLI) IT hardware scheme for manufacturing laptops, PCs and servers. As of 10.30 PM on Wednesday, the number of applications had climbed to 38, from 32 applicants around 5.30 PM. The window for submission of applications for PLI IT hardware scheme closes at midnight. Earlier in the evening, Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw had said that Foxconn Group, HP, Dell and Lenovo are among companies which have applied. Others who have thrown their hat into the ring include Flextronics, Dixon, Acer, Thompson, VVDN, HP Enterprises and Asus, Vaishnaw said, terming the response from companies as "fabulous."
