Govt imposes 4 month on catching of trout fish in Himachal Pradesh

The Himachal Pradesh fisheries department on Friday imposed a four-month ban on catching trout fish in major rivers and their tributaries spread over 600 km in the state. "In order to promote the breeding of trout fish in the cold-water regions of Himachal Pradesh and to conserve this natural resource, a complete ban on trout fishing has been implemented from November 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025," Director Fisheries Vivek Chandekl said in a statement issued here. These include the Pabbar river in Shimla district, Beas, Sarvari, Parvati, Gadsa, and Sainj rivers in Kullu district, Uhal river in Mandi and Kangra districts, and Bhandal Nala in Chamba district, the statement said. Chandel said the ban is necessary to conserve trout fish during their natural breeding season, allowing for natural seed collection in reservoirs. This four-month ban will ensure the long-term preservation of Himachal Pradesh's fishery resources and boost trout fish production in the state, he added. He said

HP govt to ensure 80% employment to locals in industrial units: Minister

The Himachal Pradesh government is ensuring that Himachalis are provided employment in all industrial, power and tourism units in the state, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan said here on Friday. Presiding over a review meeting of the labour and employment department here, Chauhan reiterated the resolve of the government to accelerate the pace of development and instructed the director of labour and employment to ensure 80 per cent employment to Himachalis in industrial units in the private sector, an official statement said. Expressing satisfaction over the digitisation of 100 per cent employment exchanges of the state, he said that the registration and renewal can now be done online and private employers can upload the details of vacancies in their organisations on the 'eemis' portal. The Himachal Pradesh government has sent a proposal to the Centre seeking approval for five new national highways in the state, Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh said on Friday. Addressing a press conference here after holding a review meeting of his department, Singh said the construction of these proposed national highways will accelerate development in the hill state. "Efforts will be made to expedite the process by meeting Union Highways and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari," Singh said, as he expressed hope that the Centre will give its nod to the proposals soon. PWD, SJVNL sign MoU worth Rs 70 cr for road widening projects in Himachal

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth around Rs 70 crore has been signed between the state Public Works Department (PWD) and SJVN Ltd for the widening of various road projects in Himachal Pradesh on Monday. Presiding over the MoU signing ceremony here, PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that the MoU had been signed for the widening of Sunni-Luhri road, Gharat Nala-Khaira road, Shimla-Mandi road and Dhali-Devidhar road. In a statement issued here, he said that this MoU was a historic step towards improving the road infrastructure in both rural and urban areas of the state. Farmers practising natural farming in Himachal Pradesh will receive a grant of Rs 33,000 for buying a cow, along with a subsidy of Rs 8,000 for paving the cowshed floor, ATMA official said on Thursday. "Farmers doing natural farming in the state will be given a grant of Rs 33,000 for buying a local cow besides a subsidy of Rs 8,000 for paving the floor of the cowshed," said Neha Bhardwaj, Assistant Technical Manager of the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), during an event at Manjhiar village.
