Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Monday said it is recalling certain units of its bike models like CB350 and H'ness CB350 due to issues with wheel speed sensor and camshaft. The company is recalling CB300F, CB300R, CB350, H'ness CB350 and CB350RS, manufactured between October 2020 and April 2024, for issues with wheel speed sensor, the two wheeler major said in a statement. "It has been observed that due to an improper molding procedure being followed, water may seep into the wheel speed sensor. This may lead to a speed sensor malfunction causing error in the speedometer, traction control or ABS intervention," it said. In the worst case scenario, it may result in ineffective braking, it added. Units manufactured from October 2020 to April 2024 are affected under this potential issue, the company said. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is looking to enter the electric vehicle segment this fiscal and eyes one-third of its overall sales to accrue from the segment by 2030. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of 64th SIAM annual session here, HMSI Director (Sales and Marketing) Yogesh Mathur said the company will be entering the EV segment this fiscal. He noted that the contribution of electric two-wheelers in overall two-wheeler sales was continuing to grow. "And what we understand is that by 2030 there will be a major shift towards EVs and we have announced that by 2030 in our lineup also..one-third at least will be coming only from EV models," Mathur said. The EV model is being developed jointly by HMSI and Honda teams, he added. On capacity utilisation at its plants, Mathur said the company's plants were currently running at full capacity. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India on Monday reported a 45 per cent year-on-year jump in domestic wholesales at 4,50,589 units in May. The company had dispatched 3,11,144 units to its dealers in May 2023. Exports increased to 41,458 units last month from 18,249 units in May 2023, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) said in a statement. The total sales rose to 4,92,047 units last month as against 3,29,393 units in the same month last year, it added.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India on Thursday reported a 42 per cent year-on-year jump in domestic wholesales at 4,81,046 units in April. The two-wheeler major had dispatched 3,38.289 units to its dealers in the year-ago. Exports increased 67 per cent to 60,900 units last month from 36,458 units in April last year, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) said in a statement. The total sales rose to 5,41,946 units last month against 3,74,747 units a year ago, it added.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India on Tuesday reported an 81 per cent year-on-year jump in domestic wholesales at 3,58,151 units in March. The company had dispatched 1,97,542 units to its dealers in March 2023. Exports increased 95 per cent to 28,304 units last month from 14,460 units in March 2023, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) said in a statement. The total sales rose to 3,86,455 units last month against 2,12,002 units in the same month last year, it added. Besides, the grew 12 per cent to 48,93,522 units in FY24 compared to 43,50,967 units in FY23, HMSI said.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Friday said it is recalling certain units of its superbikes GL1800 Gold Wing and CBR1000RR to inspect and replace faulty fuel pumps. Honda GL1800 Gold Wing manufactured between December 2017 and December 2023 and CBR1000RR manufactured between September 2017 and April 2020 are affected, the two-wheeler major said in a statement. HMSI, however, did not provide an exact number of the units being recalled. "The fuel pump impellers may have been improperly molded, which can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure. If the fuel pump module becomes inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall without indication while riding," the company stated. The inspection and replacement of fuel pumps will be carried out at BigWing Topline dealerships across India, it added.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India on Wednesday reported a 27 per cent increase in total sales at 3,17,123 units in December 2023 as compared to 2,50,171 units in the year-ago period. Domestic sales were at 2,86,101 units last month, as compared to 2,33,151 units in December 2022, at a growth of 22.71 per cent, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) said in a statement. Exports were at 31,022 units as against 17,020 units in the year-ago period, it added. In the calendar year 2023, the company sold 43,84,559 units, the statement said.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India on Friday said it is recalling around 2,000 CB300R bike units due to a manufacturing fault in the right crankcase cover of the engine. The voluntary recall covers the 2022 model of the CB300R. The company has identified that due to an inappropriate manufacturing process of the right crankcase cover of the engine, there are chances of sealing plug dislodging due to low retention force caused by engine heat, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said in a statement. This could further cause the sealing plug to come off and engine oil to splash out, it added. In the worst situation, the oil adhering to hot motorcycle parts may cause fire, its contact with tyres may cause slippage or it may injure the rider due to its hot temperature, the company stated. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) on Tuesday said its total sales declined by 19.97 per cent to 3,54,209 in January 2022. The two-wheeler maker had dispatched 4,37,183 units in January 2021. "While the calendar year 2022 has started on a positive note compared to last month, the sales sentiment in Q4'22 continues to reflect the preceding challenges of last fiscal year," HMSI Director (Sales & Marketing) Yadvinder Singh Guleria said in a statement.
