Air Arabia flight from Kerala to Sharjah receives hoax bomb threat

A hoax bomb threat was made with regard to an Air Arabia flight scheduled to leave for Sharjah from the Calicut International airport on Saturday morning, leading to the aircraft being grounded while the bomb detection squad of the police inspected it, airport sources said. One of the passengers who arrived on the aircraft from Sharjah to Calicut had left a note saying 'bomb' on one of the seats and it was found by the ground staff before boarding commenced, a senior airport official said. Subsequently, the police were alerted, the aircraft was grounded and the bomb detection squad carried out a thorough inspection of the plane, the official said. "It was later found that the note was a hoax bomb threat. The inspection and security drills have just been concluded. We are awaiting a report from the bomb detection squad before the flight is cleared for take off," the official said around 11 am. He also said that the flight, which was scheduled to depart around 8.30 am, will now leave

Delhi Police arrests man for making threat call to blow up IGI airport

A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday for allegedly making a threat call to blow up the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here on January 28, police said. Krishno Mahto, who hails from Bihar's West Champaran, was arrested in Delhi's Kapashera, they said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani said during an interrogation, Mahto confessed to making the bomb threat call. On January 28, he was heavily inebriated when he made the call from a mobile phone and threatened to blow up IGI airport, Rangnani said. He was arrested following a long chase as he had switched off his mobile phone after making the call. A police team also visited his native place in Bihar as the mobile phone number was registered at his home address.

The Amity International School in Pushp Vihar here received an email regarding a bomb threat on Monday morning, prompting police to launch a search operation, officials said. A thorough checking of the school premises is being done by a bomb detection squad which has found nothing suspicious so far, a Delhi Police officer said. No immediate reaction was available from the school administration on the matter. "An email was received today morning at around 3.10 am at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar regarding a bomb threat. Bomb hoax in Air India aircraft at Amritsar airport triggers panic

Panic gripped the Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport here when staff cleaning an Air India aircraft reported a bomb threat on Monday. However, it later turned out to be a hoax. Two hours after flight AI-170 arrived from London's Gatwick Airport, the staff cleaning it found a paper slip with "bomb" written on it in the aircraft's toilet, the Punjab Police said. The plane had arrived with 187 passengers on board, the authorities said. The airport authorities reported the matter to the Central Industrial Force and the aircraft, which was then in the hangar, placed in isolation, the police said. Officials said the plane was searched for three hours but no explosives were found. An airport official said the flight departed for Gatwick from Amritsar with 240 passengers.

Goa's Manohar International employee arrested for bomb hoax call: Police

A 22-year-old man working at the Manohar International Airport in Goa was arrested for allegedly making a hoax call about a bomb at the airport on Saturday afternoon, police said. The police control room received a call around 4.45 pm informing about the planting of a bomb "at airport", said North Goa district Superintendent of Police Nidhin Valsan. Both the airports in the coastal state Manohar International Airport at Mopa and Dabolim Airport, Vasco were put on alert, but the bomb warning turned out to be a hoax. Mopa police traced the call to Kundan Kumar who is currently working at Manohar International Airport, the SP said. Kumar, who hails from Bihar, confessed to making the call in an inebriated condition, he said. A First Information Report was registered against Kumar under Indian Penal Code sections 505 (1)(b) (causing fear or alarm to public), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) and 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication). Hoax bomb call at Google office in Pune; caller held in Hyderabad

Google company's office in Maharashtra's Pune city was briefly put on alert after it received a call about a bomb in the premises which later turned out to be a hoax, police said on Monday. A man, who allegedly made the call in an inebriated state, has been traced to Hyderabad and apprehended from there, they said. "The office, located on the 11th floor of a multi-storey commercial building in Pune's Mundhwa area, received a call late Sunday night that a bomb was kept in the office premises," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Vikrant Deshmukh said. After being alerted, Pune police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad reached the spot and carried out extensive searches, he said. "The call later turned out to be a hoax. The caller has been traced to Hyderabad and apprehended. He allegedly made the call in an inebriated condition," the official said. Further investigation is on into the incident, he added.

A 37-year-old American man has been charged in a Singapore court with assaulting cabin crew and making a hoax bomb threat aboard a Singapore Airlines flight travelling from San Francisco.
